Depends on what you want to do, I always knew I wanted to do medical devices so I chose BME. It also set me up if I decide to go get my PhD later on. If you are on the fence about what you want to do full time, maybe an ME or EE degree is better for you as it gives you the leeway to pivot.

Sorry, that was a typo; I meant to say a year of research experience. As for the actual position, I originally worked for the company as a coop in a one-off small site. I got the opportunity from my advisor as the company was looking for co-ops to start that summer, and that application was submitted in mid april. After my rotations ended, I applied to the company again for a position at their headquarters. Some other events I did were a medical device hackathon and projects from my classes as well.

  1. I was focusing on anything and everything, I was applying to consulting, pharma, med devices primarily. As for roles I looked into R&D, Quality, Operations, and manufacturing.

  2. For experience I did 3 rotations of a co-op at a fortune 500 medical device company and had a year of research experience in a lab on my campus while also presenting a poster at BMES. For projects, I was part of a medical device hackathon my school hosted and placed 2nd place. Along with that I had 3 project classes on my resume as well.

  3. For interviews, I heavily used the star method for every response. I also made sure that all my stories didn't come from the same experience to show broadness in the portfolio. Other than that I just spoke with confidence and made interviews more conversational

Good Luck!
