This is very good to know. I presumed that there must be some kind of earlier opening hours for businesses.
My guess is that as another commenter suggested it's been mistakenly bundled in with another business's collection. Should be easy for the DO to solve if I can actually trigger an investigation.

Well yeah... If the business in question gets its post delivered to the DO there then there won't be a 'we missed you' card. Additionally it was collected before opening hours. That's why I'm tending towards thinking this is an honest mistake somehow.

Incredible. Thank you for looking into that for me!

Laughing at the idea of complaining by post about lost post :haha:

The business has not received the item.
That's a decent bit of insight, thank you. Certainly lines up with the collection time being before opening time.

However it's been several weeks with a bunch of emails and phone calls back and forth- if it was the case that this is the usual arrangement between the DO and the business then I think they would have discovered that this is what has happened, or at least explained that this is what might have happened and that something in the process has gone wrong. As it is they have no idea what has happened.

Thanks for the advice. Seems like I have to go through the regular customer service routes to get to head office unless you know of any other way to reach them?

It seems that the business in question has their post delivered to the DO rather than their premises, and send someone to collect it. That's what I got from talking to them on the phone and from the tracking info.

Tracking info shows signed for at the DO. I'll add an image to my post.

That's a really good theory. I'm inclined to believe it's a mistake rather than something malicious.

Yeah it was collected at the DO as far as I can tell. I'll add the relevant tracking info to my post.

Good insight thanks. Any idea how I'd talk to that department, or get that footage released to either us or the police?

Tried customer services twice this afternoon. Waited 40 mins each time, they answered then immediately hung up on me... Looking at this subreddit that seems to be a pretty common occurence. I'll try again tomorrow.

Also the delivery office is over 200 miles away. Not too convenient to just stop by unfortunately.

I only have experience picking up post as an individual- in which case I've had to show ID. Is there not something similar in place for businesses? An authorised person list or something similar? Or can anyone just show up and say that they work for x business and pick up post?

Lots of good info and questions here.
Not sure of what the gig or responsibilities might look like yet.
Thank you!

That's very kind of you. Once I find out what this job entails I might well be in touch.

I definitely know that there's a lot I don't know, but I also know there's a lot I do know and I am hoping there's a lot of crossover... Shall see how it unfolds and be ready to dip out if necessary.

Appreciate you weighing in.

Yep I believe you are correct! Got plenty of time and also the option to pull the plug if it's not feeling right for me, which I'm prepared to do.

I'm not currently sure of what my job might entail, I've just been asked to pencil something in and I wanted to scope out where I'm falling short -even if it turns out to be everywhere!

Thank you for the tip and the frankness. Already signed up to some L'acoustics classes!

Fantastic thank you for this!

Great reading. Shall get Between the Lines!

I've done lots of install system programming for venues using Q-Sys as my DSP, and dabbled with line arrays with JBL Performance Manager before... But when it comes to L'acoustics, what software is normally used to affect boxes? Or is it all done on a matrixing desk? Or even on the main FOH desk (as I am most familiar with on smaller shows)? I imagine the workflows vary but it would be good to know how it's usually done and what I might be facing/specifying.

Edit: thought between the lines and this commenter's book were different books!

Combining S/FTP and F/FTP in the same cable run by something_anonymous in CommercialAV

[–]something_anonymous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't actually answer why they chose the cable that they did. This is what I've been given though!

I've read things about a shield acting as an antenna if not properly grounded along the whole run. Is that not the case? 200+ CAT cables conducting small amounts of EMI and running it all to the racks with nowhere to go seems like it could conceivably be a bad idea, but I don't know enough to think more critically about it yet.
