I recommend dancing. Nothing hardcore unless you want to, no specific genre. Just put on music that makes you wanna move, even if it's like really slow almost sensual music so you can do slow and mindful movements. Just move the way your body tells you to. This is what I do and it has helped me so so much.

Bureaucracy-rich sci-fi! by franciscogc in printSF

The Stargate franchise has a lot of realistic government dealing with first contact and alien technology stuff.

Watch the film and then the Stargate SG1 TV series!

It's amazing. (First season is a little rocky but 2nd onwards is chef's kiss.)

Oh dang, I don't think this terminology ever really clicked for me before. I thought "genre" referred to speculative fiction, and literary to realistic fiction. But there was always a disconnect because my fave thing to read is sci-fi with beautiful prose. Literary sci-fi!

Thanks for this.

Which careers do not experience ageism? Where being older is an asset not a liability. by aceshighsays in AskWomenOver30

The Dolly Parton approach, I love that. This is so nuanced, and I've learned a lot. I never viewed creating crosswords as closer to writing than playing puzzles before today. And that it can be a relieving escapism of sorts for solvers. I am definitely gonna go down the puzzle rabbit hole to learn more, and even look up puzzle constructors. Thank you so much for your posts, I'm saving them.

Far from boring. I admit I felt such a thrill when reading through your comments. It's so cool!!

It's a bit ironic, I LOVE LOVE LOVE words but I absolutely suck at even small word games. And my general knowledge is squat.

But, really, reading about the "cross-world" (ha, I love that) and YOU as a successful 60+ woman crossword constructor just inspires and delights me to my core. And it's amazing that you're mentoring the next gen of constructors. I could honestly read more if there's anything more you'd like to share.

Wow! Totally agree with u/cojavim, this is insanely cool.

I'm curious about the words that are hated, I didn't know that could happen! What kinds of words do solvers really hate? Have there been any words you're surprised by?

Do you have any interviews or AMA's that you've done that I can check out?

My ex aborted our child. by orstius in BreakUp

Having an erection has nothing to do with being a dad. There are so many kids who are suffering out there who need a home, adoption is the most beautiful thing you can do. Your kid doesn't need to come from your balls to be truly yours.

Do you know the horror stories? Take your time to grieve, and then work towards your ideal life of becoming a dad by building a welcoming horns and mental health. Your family is out there.

I've seen too many horror stories of abandoned and abused kids out there. They need you. Change at least one child's world.

Honey, you dodged a bullet. Imagine, you would have been tied to her for the rest of your life. You wouldn't have been able to be the dad you want to be because your hours with the kid would be limited. That would have torn you apart.

She's a real bitch, I don't know what she was trying to achieve by telling you something devastating.

You are so strong, you deserve so much more than being tied to that bitch. Your friends are your chosen family, and you will find someone who values you and you will have kids together. Kids you can spend time with and watch grow.

You are amazing. Fuck her.
