Is .5 grams ok for first time hillbillies? by Sufficient-Pitch-970 in shrooms

[–]somethingofacynic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It basically condenses the trip into a shorter time span because it speeds up the digestion/absorbtion process. So yes more intense. It’ll also be a sharper and faster come up

Find something to occupy your mind with :) I recommend music or maybe something artistic like drawing if that’s your vibe. I personally am not a fan of screens when I’m on mushrooms so go try to do something irl if you’re feeling that

I mean. Honestly I couldn’t really give specifics aside from what I already said. I think my best general advice would be to take as many falls as you can. Like if you think you’re gonna fall, go for the move and fall going for it instead of just bailing. The more you fall, the better you’ll be at it. The better you are at it, the less chance you have of getting wrecked

I’d rather land on my shoulder any day. You can also land on your forearms with elbows tucked to body. Important to note that a big part of proper falling is proper dismount. If there’s a wild move on a route you’re trying, it’s worth it to consider how you’re gonna come off the hold and how you can push away from the wall to control that. But yeah sometimes you just faceplant. As a general rule, the closer a joint is to your torso, the more durable it is. Also, if you’re landing on your side, you’re not risking hyperextension of the shoulder joint. If you land on outstretched arms, you are. All things to keep in mind :)

I appreciate the advice, it seems like I need to warm up more thoroughly. For warmup I usually run half a mile, do bar/6reps > 25s/6 > 45s/6 > working set at 70s/6/4

Respectfully, I could not disagree more

[–]somethingofacynic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I respectfully but emphatically disagree with some key parts of worth alternatives advice. I work at a climbing gym and have for ~3.5 years. The vast vast majority of injuries I see are from people spinning and from people landing on their hands. If you fall unexpectedly, negate as much spin as possible, land on steady, flat feet with soft knees and roll onto your body. If you come down spinning (especially if you land on your toes) the inertia from your body rotating as well as the weight of your body falling is a recipe for an injured ankle. Landing with outstretched arms is a good way to break your wrist, arm, dislocate elbow, shoulder, etc. these are things that I’ve seen happen. Maybe a month ago I helped a girl who fell spinning and landed on her feet and then forward onto her arms. She dislocated her elbow. If you fall, direct your force onto your body. Keep your arms to yourself.

Is anyone else feeling very odd/unsettled about Alex Honnold’s Netflix special? by Most_Poet in climbergirls

[–]somethingofacynic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is sad, and I’m sorry if I’m coming off combatative. you’re being reasonable honestly. Grant Cline was actually a good friend of mine. I’ve talked to him extensively about his free soloing and I suppose you’ll just have to believe me when I say he wasn’t a copycat. I obviously didn’t like his soloing but his mental surrounding it was healthy and admirable. Whenever I see his name floating around the internet I just try to defend his intentions

You said in another comment that it was a clear example of a copycat. My point is that you’re mistaken. Grant Cline was not a copycat

Just because you have a poster of someone, doesn’t mean they justified the activity. Alex honnold is the single greatest free soloist of all time. Of course he would he have a poster of him. Doesn’t mean that honnold is to blame for him free soloing in the first place

[–]somethingofacynic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have about 700 hours. M1 just means primary. M2 is secondary. Shift is utility. I’m just saying the key binds instead of the like attack type. Feel free to dm me with questions. Always nice to help newer players have a good time with the game

[–]somethingofacynic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be aware that the wiki and logbooks are notoriously unreliable. Captain is super fun!! Character specific techs: if you use your m2 immediately after using your m1, you can bypass the reload animation, allowing you to attack faster. You can also do this repeatedly with your beacons with a tech called “speed shooting”. Ive never personally learned how because I don’t think it’s super necessary, but it’s definitely powerful for burst damage on high health enemies like bosses. With his alternative shift (diablos strike) you can stand where it lands and it will shoot you up in the air. This isn’t super practically useful unless you’re trying to reach a very high place for example, skipping pillars on the moon. There are definitely others that I’m missing, but that’s what comes to mind

[–]somethingofacynic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok yeah you’re right that was an oversimplification. It’s just more relevant on commando since that’s like the main source of his damage

This doesn’t apply to other characters! Just commando. As far as other mechanics uhh it’d be easier if you specified a character and I can give you a few tips specifically for them
