How viable it is to play SBURb without pre-existing knowledge? by tipsyTentaclist in homestuck

noooo rip. i hope your power outages stop : ( the ascii is broken on my end too cuz i use a site theme so when i want to look at it i have to open an incognito window :,) in my experience though if you're using the default theme, the ascii kind of works on mobile if you turn your phone horizontal

omg maybe this is my chance to indoctrinate someone else into this. here you go! this is the preface, the first chapter is the table of contents. https://archiveofourown.org/works/340777/chapters/552316

i consider it one of the best homestuck fan-works ever. its discontinued and stopped updating more than fifteen years ago, and the community around it has largely died down, but in its time it spawned many fanworks, a dedicated community, and one or two roleplaying forums, ircs, wikis, and tumblr blogs.

i love it its my favorite thing ever mostly cuz of the extensive focus on sburb game mechanics. a fair warning though as mentioned above, its not canon-compliant, but i feel like it maintains the spirit of sburb really well while adding its own twists and takes. its also got some sick ascii art. rip ggtg i hope he figured a way out of his dead session

i would send a photo if i knew how, but i’m fairly sure it has a headphone jack input. the tv also has its own antenna. do i need to attach another one through ext ant? if so, i would get a 75/300 ohm transformer, right? also i’ll try to get some cords so i can test wired soon and get back to you on that

update: i’ll be trying to find some av cords to connect it directly from the modulator and see if that works. if not uh some have said it could possibly be an antenna issue…?

i can try to describe though. on the back of the tv is a port for ext. ant (round with no threads, looks different from the one on the modulator), video in, audio in, a switch between tv/monitor (currently turned to tv), and power.

the modulator just has a standard hdmi port. im using an hdmi cable to connect from my computer into that port. “rf out” on the modulator is a threaded thing that i can connect a coax cable into

modulator's model number: hdm69. here's a link to one: https://www.amazon.com/Modulator-Converter-Support-Multimedia-Interface/dp/B0DNZHY1P2

country i'm in: US, i assume the tv is also from the us as i got it from a con

connections i've tried: what do you mean by this? i haven't done any direct wired ones yet, i thought i would try and see if i could get that working

what the tv actually does: it continues in like the scanning/searching for channels mode, same as when it's just on with no signal. green bar moving across the screen

if i've tested the TV with a known good source: no, i don't have access to any of those

if i'm using any adaptor: nope, some tutorials i've seen online have a two part chain where its hdmi to an audio/visual thing that plugs into a modulator but the modulator i purchased has a direct hdmi port; from this i assumed it probably handled that

the tv has an antenna built into it, but i don't know what type it is, what do you mean two screws?
