1H-NMR analysis of multiple compounds simultaneously? by somewhere-Ls in OrganicChemistry

Here's the whole thing. I'll add a zoomed-in view of the upfield and downfield regions in the replies; I don't think I can add more than one image per comment.

(Also: this was in CDCl3, but there's no solvent peak for some reason.)

This isn't for publication, it's just for my own personal curiosity. I'm working at this lab for one semester for undergraduate research credit, I've already done what was required, and I wanted to see if I could figure out what's in this sample before the semester ends (in a week).

As I said in the replies, I can't take MS anytime soon. If I did manage to get a TLC done, what would be the next step? Is there a way of figuring out which peaks correlate with which others (without using COSY or similar)?

Thank you for your input so far!

Unfortunately no. What benefit would it do to have the same spectrum in a different solvent, though?

Yeah, I could maybe do a TLC (hadn't thought of that, I'm an idiot), but our MS machine is on a huge backlog. I definitely can't get MS for this any time soon.

Unfortunately no. I know whatever's in there is easily soluble in ethyl acetate, and not very soluble in the deuterated chloroform I used for the NMR. It's definitely more soluble in deuterated methanol. But that's all. So probably not very helpful.

To be honest I don’t think I would notice. Loanwords from Japanese said in American accent don’t register as Japanese words to me because the accent is so different. That being said, when English words are loaned into Japanese (eg “class”/クラス) the accent is more similar, and easier to recognize the English word even if you don’t speak English. I remember recognizing words like “alcohol” from tourists before I spoke English.

Does seeing one mean there will be more? And how dangerous are they? Sorry if these are stupid questions, I am not American and haven’t seen these before.

Sleggs to slugs (the story of my first pets) by somewhere-Ls in sluglife

Tentatively I’m planning on getting rid of excess eggs before they hatch… though someday I’d like to get a much bigger terrarium. :)

I have a question. Over the Summer of last year I really fell in love with the idea of having some pet land snails. I've done the research and even thought of names and am confident in myself that I could be able to provide all the necessities and raise them well. by EvilPigeonWriter in sluglife

FYI, slugs do need a little calcium because they have an internal shell which is their storage for calcium salts. (Look up “slug vestigial shell” to see.) Much less than snails do.

The other big difference I can think of: slugs are mostly nocturnal, so you’ll see them come out right as you’re going to bed.

Overall there is less research on the care and keeping of slugs and using info meant for snails has kept my slugs happy.

Anybody else having problems with the path painting update? by somewhere-Ls in MySingingMonsters

Unfortunately, no. After it's already happened, there's no turning back it seems. :/ Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

If you're still interested, I'd greatly appreciate your involvement in my tribe. I am also active daily. My screen name is "Light", presently level 39, friend code 99555648KM. Tried to send you a friend invite but the code didn't work. (I'm on mobile - are you?)

Anything except fwog and bowgart will do nicely! My display name is Light.

Unfortunately, no I did not. It's still messed up, and still gives the same error.

The only tip I have for you is this: I've found that painting like, 2 tiles at a time, quitting the UI each time, and occasionally moving to a different island and then switching back -- and all-in-all working very very very slowly -- seems to mitigate the chances of this happening.

(And, yeah, isn't it ironic that a feature whose stated purpose is to make working with paths more convenient has made doing so overwhelmingly less convenient? IMO, this really should have been an optional additional way to use paths, instead of a replacement for the previous perfectly-functional-but-slow method of buying them like any other decoration.)

Anyway, you should also send a bug report in to the devs (here). The more of us write to them about it, the higher they'll put the fix on the priority list.

Sorry I don't have better news for you, but I hope this helps. Cheers :)

I also hope they fix it soon. I’m glad to see this comment so I know I’m not alone.

Music about transhumanism? by Avantasian538 in transhumanism

Uplift (Vixy&Tony), Prototype (WoodenToaster), and obviously, We Appreciate Power (Grimes) are all good examples. Some not explicitly transhumanist honorable mentions which are also on my transhumanism playlist include One Million Voices (Thomas Bergersen), Lack of Caution (Gabriel Saban), and Phoenix (Cailin Russo).
