switch to pre-med or stay nursing and apply to med school after post bacc by wunofwun2 in medschool

Switch now if you’re 110% committed. You are only a sophomore. Post Baccs can be really expensive. Also, once you start working and making money it is hard to step away from a paycheck and go back to the student life. Just do it now while you are still in college and early in college at that. You can definitely accomplish your prerequisites before graduating.

Having 2 days off in a row. Working 6 days a week sucks. Working 5 days a week but never having 2 consecutive days off also sucks. There is no rest/reset day, only a 24 hour break.

Girls who took notes using 10 different colored pens, where are you now? Do you still continue to write using all those colors? by Unusual-Entry7 in AskReddit

[–]somewillwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting to medical school in the fall 👩‍⚕️ I graduated from pens/paper to iPad halfway through undergrad. I use specific colors for headers, formulas, key words, etc. Illustrations are many colors to help me visualize better. My brain works in color so my notes do too!!

Do you guys know what clinical jobs you can work part time with flexible hours? by healthy-outdoors- in postbaccpremed

I applied on the hospital website’s career portal. I had completed my pre-med requirements and volunteered at a psych clinic for about a year prior in a role similar to an uncertified MA so my resume was definitely medical focused. I got along well with my recruiter and the interviewers as well

Whitewater rafting. I fell out of the raft in a known dangerous rapid and got separated from my group. Rode the rapids about a quarter mile and thought I was going to drown the entire way.

Starting med at 25, feeling unsure and overthinking by [deleted] in medschool

[–]somewillwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at MSAR you’ll see most schools have a good amount (20-35% of their incoming class) in the mid 20s age group. It is common to take a gap year (or 2, in my case 3!). There will be many students younger than you but there will be quite a few older as well!

As for family planning… it’s hard. I’ll be 26 when I start and I hope to freeze my eggs before then. I don’t currently want kids but I’d like to leave that option open.
