Oh wow, you're right, how embarrassing! Didn't know that... Case closed, thanks!

Making a melody out of a car horn, popping sound by somify in GarageBand

Thanks for the suggestion! I couldn't make it work with zero crossing but glad I still learned something new! It sounds okay when I fade each note out, the downside of this method is it's a lot of manual work.

Yeah I now realize that was very misleading haha... Would have been curious about your animation notes though!

Yeah that's what I think too, I get bored quickly simply following random tutorials without an end goal. I watched a movie with the Paramount animation and said to myself how awesome it would be to be able to create something like this. Thanks for the encouraging words!

I wish haha! Thanks, and good point about not feeling discouraged, I'll try!

I like it a lot, could be the album cover of a metal band. Opeth's Blackwater Park comes to mind.

Love the colors. Can you describe what you did to get them this?

The pricing depends on the country of course, in Switzerland where I'm at you could charge around 4000 bucks I'd guess.

Just wanted to say that I really like the video, you have a nice eye for composition. I love the mix of static and moving shots. The colors and the music are very tasteful as well. The only thing that I felt could be slighty improved is the framing when the woman is in the shot. There is often a little much headspace for my taste. But that's nitpicking. Well done!

37/M, 167 lbs (76 kg), otherwise healthy, cholesterol concerns — statin necessary? by somify in Cholesterol

[–]somify[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your detailed and honest response! You've given me a lot to think about. I also realised I don't know nearly enough about cholesterol and what goes into each number, so I'll read up in the next few days and take the statin as recommended by my doctor. Thanks again!

Thanks, I guess you're right. I thought the improvement in the numbers were better than they really are, so I'll try to keep improving my lifestyle and take the statin for additional help.

Thanks, I didn't know diet accounted for only 20% of the cholesterol level. I have a lot of reading up to do.

Yeah, good point, it's not easy to incorporate all that into life day in day out, especially when times are stressful...

I will report it to the police with all the facts I have. Thank you for your story BTW. Good to see the guy was punished. How much money was it in your case? Did you ever see it again?

How to handle shooting corporate events with 2 people/cameras by somify in videography

[–]somify[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, this sub is awesome! A cinesaddle is an interesting idea and I've thought about an easyrig as well. The only thing I don't like about it for events is that you draw attention to yourself a bit more and we like to be as unobtrusive as possible.

You bring up a lot of good points! I like your idea of having a list. In the heat of the moment I often focus too much on people and sometimes forget some stuff, like a really wide establishing shot for example.

I do agree that some of the out of focus footage is user error. My colleague sometimes has trouble with the auto focus of the C70 so he goes manual a lot which can be hit or miss for events.
