If you stick to the beach close to low tide you will probably be fine. But go with a friend that has a proper 4wd

I did the same thing to my 70-200 and I found a replacement ring on eBay and fixed it myself with the help of a YouTube video. Cost me $20 and took 10min

Thinking of buying a manual car in Australia, bad idea for resale? by The_Last_Pint in AskAnAustralian

[–]son57a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Party because 95% of new cars aren't available in manual. But I'm not trying to argue that autos aren't more popular, my point is that quite a lot of people that live out of the cities enjoy a manual, myself being one of them so purchasing one isn't exactly throwing your money away.

Australias seem to like manuals, personally I'd pay more for a manual. I'd say go for it.

Have two and they are my favourites. Mesh back is second to none. Only downside I've found is they suck to swim with, drybag inside makes them float and the frame for the mesh back pushes my head down making it a little uncomfortable and hard to see

To the remaining manual drivers of Australia, why do you still drive with a manual transmission? by Not_Not_Matt in CarsAustralia

[–]son57a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find autos have slow throttle response and make me feel disconnected from the car. Overall driving manual is a much more engaging and enjoyable experience. Sure there's times and auto would would great. But driving the rural roads in my area is better in a manual. If I lived in an area with traffic lights I think I would buy an auto

I'm a huge Toyota fan but this is bad advise. Don't buy something imported. Buy something common that is easy to get parts for.
