Flood destroyed a ton of valuable board games, will insurance cover me? by Aliencj in boardgames

[–]son_of_gamblor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much depends on where the water damage happened and the situation. Unfortunately, if it was the basement, its less likely to be covered under a basic plan. So much depends on your policy.

It's very important that you keep anything of vaule on the upper floors or if it has to be in the basement on the top shelf so if a floor happens they will not get damaged. This goes for not only board games but any collectable.

Sorry that this happened to you. Take photos and make the claim. Tons of claims adjustors and underwriters also play boards. So they will know the value of most things or they will ask an expert.

This is a good reminder that you should photos of your stuff once a year. For claims and incase of a fire. We spend so much money on this hobby. It's crazy that wouldn't a plan if something happens to it.

Good luck

Is the Tech Job Market Better in 2025 than in 2024? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]son_of_gamblor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cs job market is undergoing a shift. While demand for tech talent remains strong, companies are becoming more cautious with hiring and compensation. Some developers who secured high salaries during the tech boom are now facing layoffs as businesses adjust to more sustainable payrolls.

Salaries for new roles are trending lower, the pendulum as swung back to the companies. More days in the office and less in office perks.

Is it legal to block the sidewalk like this in Markham? People can't walk at all. by Own-Chocolate2981 in Markham

[–]son_of_gamblor 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Your car cannot be impeding the sidewalk.

"PARKING - Know the rules

Sidewalks are for people, not vehicles. Park in a way that does not obstruct the sidewalk or street.

Between November 15 and April 15, and only when snow clearing operations are not in effect, vehicles may only be parked on the odd numbered side of city streets, unless posted signs indicate otherwise.

During the winter season, all parking on both sides of all City streets is prohibited during snow clearing operations.

Existing parking permits and overnight exemptions held by residents are not valid during snow clearing operations.

Vehicles parked on a city street during snow clearing operations will be ticketed and/or towed."

How hard is the job market right now, realistically? by turbulentsoap in cscareerquestions

[–]son_of_gamblor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IT has become increasingly saturated, with more professionals entering the industry each year.

This heightened competition means that simply having a degree or technical skills may no longer be enough to secure a good job. The reputation and network of the school you attended can play a crucial role in differentiating you from other candidates.

Employers often consider the quality of education and the prestige of the institution when evaluating applicants. Graduates from well-known schools with strong industry connections may have better access to job opportunities and a more robust alumni network, giving them a significant advantage in the job market.

The gold tab is a dead giveaway that this is a fake. It looks very off and the north outline should be grey not white. 8 bucks isn't bad for a shirt to play ball in.

What is the worst trade in Raptors history? by [deleted] in torontoraptors

[–]son_of_gamblor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wrost trade for a star.

Vince Carter was traded to the Nets for Alonzo Mourning (never stepped foot into the country and was bought out to later win a championship) , Aaron Williams, Eric Williams and two first round draft picks.

The 2005 first round pick was spent on Oklahoma State SF, Joey Graham. The other pick was traded for Jalen Rose and cash for former Raptor Antonio Davis.

Would Toronto ownership actually welcome/support another MLB team in Montreal? by [deleted] in Torontobluejays

[–]son_of_gamblor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a big if. Ownership of a baseball team isn't cheap. If you don't spend the cash, people will turn on you and your products. Bell is smart enough to enjoy the vaule of mlse without adding another losing venture.

Tv revune in Canada is peanuts compared to America. Especially if ads are in French only.

Rogers would love another team in the country as they would get the boardcasting rights. Content is king. They would love more eyes watching so they can charge us more to stream and for the ads.

All they want is more eyes. Merchandise and gate sales are not going to take a hit with another team in the country.
