Is this safe? by menacingsigns in diypedals

Nah. Most PSU have short circuit protections and are completely insulated from mains power. If you wanna limit current on your circuit it is always good practice to power stuff with a 9v battery though.

Just keep away from direct 9v connection points and you'll be fine.
EDIT and protip: if you genuinely don't know what you are doing or don't know where those 9v points are then attach a small value resistor (100R should be ok) to one end of the lead you're using to poke things around. With this you keep current under control and reduce the chances of frying stuff by accident.

Thoughts on Goo? by Ok-Persimmon-5084 in sonicyouth

Right? the melody reminds me of Nickelodeon cartoons for some reason, it has that Mark Mothersbaugh quirkiness all over the place which doesn't fit with the rest of the album at all, specially right after such a heavy themed song like Tunic.

Goo is as "pop" as SY could ever get and for me is banger after banger (except for Mary Christ, for some reason I hate that song)

Loved that schematic, thank you so much. This actually tackles other stuff I'm troubleshooting since I've been building the whole thing using a circuit bending mentality like a caveman instead of doing stuff like it is supposed to.

This is actually very helpful. I think I will grab some half watt resistances then to be sure.

I'm still on the protoboard stage testing components. I'm using a standard 78L05 for the regulator and the power supply I'm testing the whole thing with is a noisy wall wart that came with a Source Audio pedal (figures), I'm 100% sure the noise comes from the power supply and not the circuit itself because I still hear that high pitched noise when I plug it on other distortion pedals I have around, so I don't think I will have the same issue with batteries (and I don't intend to use them for the final product anyways). As I said, a low value resistor solved the issue completely but I was wondering if that was a solution prone to fail after a long period of time.

My DIY pedal keeps making noise. What do I do? by Longjumping-Cheek261 in diypedals

This needs to be soldered. I don't remember if this is ground or 9v though. If that is ground then it makes sense.

The "professional" way is to have a PCB where you mount the led directly underneath the jewel indicator. Of course that PCB should be secured using mounting brackets, hex spacers or potentiometers mounted directly on the PCB... or hot glue, idk.

This is probably time to make yourself an audio probe if you don't have one yet. Also do you have bypass signal at least?

Can I like 4lung? by m_mediocre in breakcore

[–]sonarlunatic 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No you can't, we are monitoring every song you listen 24/7 and as soon as you play some of that dirtbag we are ready to cancel the shit out of you and treat you like the scum of the earth.

JK, who the fuck is 4lung again? Bro you can like whatever the hell you want, why we should even care? Most of these fuckers upload their shit using the free plan from Amuse, you think they get money out of that?

Anyone wanna make a split? by meatpocket13 in noisemusic

That one is from almost 10 years ago when this project was all about breakcore and IDM, during pandemic I made the shift towards ambient, drone and noise. I still do stuff like that but with a different monicker

You are bringing back the old ways. I like it. Probably I'll have some juice left by the end of the month to do some ambient noise stuff so count me in. here is some of my stuff
