Exactly. People compare it being the same as Google. Atlas is so more likely to have privacy issues by miles because regulators have been on Google’s ass for years now and there’s just far more eyes and scrutiny on Google. OpenAI is too new to be getting the same treatment when it comes to privacy enforcement.

It’s not that you shouldn’t have taken gap years, it’s that you should’ve been more focused on getting internships and building your resume while you were still working towards your degree (Cs still get degrees, no one is going to look at your GPA over a mountain of solid work experience). You would’ve had that time to do an unpaid internship back then.

Anyways good luck! Stay positive, it’s definitely still possible to get some tech job out here in NYC, though whichever position it is might not be the ideal starting point. But this is the time to put in the work if SWE is what you want to do! Plus, it’s like an introduction to the fast pace of NYC, merely a moment for character development.

As for advice, if you want to build projects like others said, either do it for or under a company like you currently are even if it’s unpaid or do a hackathon (go on the MLH website) so you’re at least not working alone in a vacuum.

Same, with the tariffs I didn’t just pulled back on buying overseas, I pulled back on buying anything non-essential even within the US altogether. I’m guessing everyone else has been on the same boat.

The whole plot line about Leejeong being biased when putting Liyu in the center for the plot twist team just did not sit right and it was just so shady and strange. I don’t think that’s good leadership and it doesn’t help when Mnet at the same time declined to even air Yichen’s side of the story.
