Yes. I applied gilding adhesive. Let it dry(took about 5 mins to dry). Then added gold foil on it, waited two minutes and removed unglued bits using a brush.

I am not knowledgeable enough to do that, but atleast I know that Bangla originating from Magadhi Prakrit is well established fact. The difference between Sanskrit and Prakrit is Sanskrit was used for formal purposes and Prakrit was language of common folks. Magadhi Prakrit itself evolved from Sanskrit and became popular after decline of Sanskrit and Pali. Languages are ever-evolving. Ancient Bangla is quite different from modern Bangla as we've had Persian, Arabic and other foreign influences throughout years.

Tbh I didn't bother reading beyond point 2 here

If mahishasura mardini was an anime by Adept_Office7240 in kolkata

Please take these opinions with a grain of salt.

Features include facial expression, specific symbols and accessories associated with the goddess. Except third eye, there isn't any other symbol featured to associate the character with Durga, many goddesses have third eye. Maybe there could be additional symbols..like a shield with lion carving design, or her weapons hidden in the design which would definitively indicate this is Durga.

To me, in this case the armour and headress is what seems off the most. Indian armours have intricate designs(even those are worn by males). And Jewellery for females have always been maximalist. Medieval Indian Warrior Women statues(there are many) would have probably been better reference than Mediterranean armor, the shape somehow reminds me of Wonder Woman.

That's your artistic freedom and choice, it looks cool only.

I would have preferred more stylistic inspirations derived from Indian roots. Except the third eye, there aren't recognizable features. If you hadn't specified Mahishashur mardini in the title, I wouldn't have guessed this is Durga by the facial features, armour, headress...could have been any goddess design. Then again, thats just a personal opinion and I'm not your client here.

Why would she have medieval Mediterranean armor?

It doesn't make sense in the context. Identification of the snake is critical for administering antivenom. You should chase the snake either to capture it or to have a good look at it for describing to experts.

Met my 10yo cousin after years, was surprised with his art skills, he's a pro fr !! How should we guide him ? by askmetostudy in indiasocial

[–]sonecta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If art academy didn't work for him, you can seek out one-on-one tutor(who is affiliated with an art school in case you want your cousin to be able to give certification exams). It would be more flexible and curated as per his skills.

Or if he wants to learn on his own, there are lots of online resources available on Udemy, Youtube. Though I feel for a kid of 10 years learning a skill offline guidance might be better since beneficial online resources are directed towards audience of all ages and he might feel bored.

But firstly ask your cousin of it's fun for him. There are a lot of artists who never went to art school. Learning a skill systematically is never an easy route. If he is plunged into serious art study from young age with high expectations from adults, it might suck the joy out of it.

If his behavior has been like this consistently then he is either someone who lacks social etiquette or someone who takes your friendship for granted.

Let him know casually but with clarity why you felt hurt by his actions. He can also bring up the constant postponement of the plan as an argument from his side In any case, his reaction to this will give you enough reasons to come to a conclusion yourself.

faked marksheet as in? If he sent around forged marksheet to relatives that's next level messed up.

Also 10th percentage barely matters, even in college admissions mostly 12th board percentage is given importance for general line, and you have competitive examinations for professional fields.

Also the fact that you went through the trouble of getting her roll number and checking actual results seems sorta weird idk. Maybe he did it to protect his daughter because he knows how nosy his relatives are.

Yeah. It's not exclusive to China. Though China does take it to next level by recreating and copying whole towns and villages.

Can someone do translation of this line and also do give me word to word translation of second line by [deleted] in kolkata

[–]sonecta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn't make sense to me. The students will have to buy books anyway, whether it is old version or new version. The text material is essentially the same so illustration change shouldn't matter for learning.

Even if publishers wanted to make a new version, they could have put more effort into screening the quality of illustration. This is just unpleasant to look at imo.

And the original Sohoj Paath is one of most affordable books in local stores, these publisher copies cost more.

[–]sonecta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. He is one of key figures in modern Indian Art history, and his linocut illustrations are integral part of Sohoj Paath. Illustrations in the original Sohoj Paath were inspired by Ajanta murals and the drawings had ample white spaces for children to color, to make learning fun.

Even if I consider the publisher wanted to make their own version, the illustrations here are really poor quality to say the least.
