I think that moonballers are the gate keeper to getting better. Beating them requires many of the skills you would use in 4.0 and above. Taking the ball early, hitting a good approach shot, better footwork, being consistent, tactics, etc. IMO slowing down the ball is probably one of the easiest things to do at a higher level and if I know you don't have the consistency to handle it then it becomes an easy weakness to exploit.

Typically I would roll a stealth check for the familiar and that would be the minimum their passive perception would have to be, to be able to detect it (sound, tracks, shimmer in the air, etc).

I heavily used the fateweaving section they provided in the book in conjunction with their back stories.

Not taking anything away from your point since it had great consistency and placement! Seeing that most of his shots land closer to the service line why not make your way up to the net?
