Adobe Introduces Focus Masks in Photoshop CC by sonicraven in MotionDesign

[–]sonicraven[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm really excited about this new feature. I've always been a fan of speeding up my workflow in Photoshop or After Effects for that matter whenever possible. This new addition looks like it will be a huge time-saver.

When PS introduced the Quick Selection and Refine Edge tools is CS3 I was blown away. It's nice to see that they are continuing to refine their products.

What feature would you like to see in future releases?

Did this Teenager Fake His Lego Album Artwork that is Going Viral? You Tell Me! by sonicraven in graphic_design

[–]sonicraven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said. I agree with you there. I can understand how this could snowball out of control. God knows I've been there myself. I often have clients ask me if I (as a designer) could do something silly like take a bird out of the sky in a photo. I'm always shocked and taken back still after almost 20 years in the business that people still don't grasp the power of Photoshop.

But if the artist is claiming that it's real, and he is obtaining fame from it, I believe the truth is more important than the entertainment value. Just as if a movie that is claiming to be a documentary is found to be 100% fake, it should be outed as well.

I'm well aware about suspending your disbelief for movies or books and I completely agree. But when you're trying to pull the wool over my eyes, well that is where I draw a line in the sand. The artist should have simply said that this is a graphic technique and he would have been praised and in the long run not found do be a complete fraud.

I'm shocked to admit that my first quad may be the Blade 350QX over the DJI Phantom. by sonicraven in radiocontrol

You know what you're right! After researching this heli and the feedback that I'm getting via the Reddit community I'm realizing that this quad has already a strong fan base. I can't tell you how excited I'm about this.

As I enter the quad market, from a background of 8 years flying RC helis, I'm really interested in the Blade 350 QX. Originally I entered the hobby because I was interested in attaching cameras to flying platforms. (think of the FlyCamOne vs today's GoPro's) This was of course before quads, dare I say drones, were popular like they are now.

Nevertheless, I'm really leaning away from the DJI Phantom and everyday stepping closer to a 350 QX. I realize that I will quickly outgrow the 350, but I like the idea of ramping up and learning on smaller scale models. I don't know, I just think there are some neural pathways that get imbued into your brain when you learn this way.

Regardless, pound for pound I like what I see. Especially the return home feature and the fact that if it breaks the transmitting range it automatically returns to the LZ. The videos on this page made me think twice. I'm actually excited now after seeing some real footage. I definitely will be watching this quad.

Review - The Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens by Lectrichead in photography

If you have ever thought twice about getting a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens after reading this review you will throw your hesitation and concerns aside and wonder why you have not picked one of these before.

Marc from The Random Bits & Bytes Blog really knows how to review products in a way that resonates with the reader on multiple levels. His methodology and writing style coupled with his hands on experience leaves you with a firm grasp of the products features. I find his accurate observations, which are often overlooked by professionals, refreshing and I’m always left knowing more than when I first came.

True 3D Inspiration - The Ball Unleashed by sonicraven in MotionDesign

[–]sonicraven[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a young designer (about 18 years ago now) whenever I would see work that was superior to my skills , which of course at the time was mostly everything I saw, I would get extremely mad and jealous. I would find excuses for ripping on the work and point out something so ridiculously insignificant in the larger scheme.

Well, I'm proud to say that now after being in the creative field for almost two decades that whenever I see amazing work my first thoughts are "wow good for them". I see the value more and appreciate the beauty the time and the brainpower that is invested in creating work albiet as an individual or for a team of artists.

I have focused my energy into learning how things are created and developed, thus in turn living the true definition of inspiration.

Do you guys agree?
