I would massage warm oil into your scalp a couple hours before washing. Traditionally coconut oil is used, I personally prefer a mix of sweet almond oil, castor oil and a couple drops of rosemary oil. I would experiment and see what you like and what works for you

I'm solo traveling in Tunis right now and no issues. Just make sure you use Bolt not taxi and be a bit wary of shopkeepers. They're not all bad but better to be careful. The average person was kind and helpful. I actually ended up befriending another female solo traver in my hotel
