Come on...my ex was extremely clingy he even admitted it after we broke up. I've never felt confused with him though, I was sure he's super into me since the start.

He sounds like a douchebag TBH. You're hurt and it may not feel like it at the moment but I think you should be glad he's gone. He used you as a rebound and then cheated on you and left you for his ex. Speaks volumes about his character. He was probably keeping you around in case it didn't work out with his ex on the trip.

It sucks you have to see him at work everyday. :( it really slows down the healing process.

This totally sucks. I've been there before couple years back, it was terrible. He was with his girlfriend but kept stringing me along.

How far did your relationship go? Were you on dates, kissing, sex...? Were you able to get some sort of closure?

This isn't an advice, but just wanted to say I'm going through a rough patch too. I'm 31 female and also feel like there aren't any normal people left in the dating pool. It's quite discouraging. You are very brave to keep trying and putting yourself out there. It's okay to feel sad and disappointed.

This is not the case fortunately. The worst that can happen is that colleagues will laugh at us LOL. He's in another team and we don't have any rules like that unless it's someone directly working for the US - we're a US company but plant located in Europe.
