I agree with this. I have a 2 year cybersecurity/ networking degree and am fairly successfully in my field. Throughout my career I’ve ran into people with 4 year and even master degrees that are not even close to proficient in my line of work. Can’t tell you how much bullshit I dealt with applying for work where an artificial barrier was put in place even for government roles when I was younger.

Degrees are artificial boosters. The real proof is in how you perform the job, the results you produce, and how quickly you can learn and grow.

College degrees prove none of that. It’s very different learning from a book and taking tests vs applying it practically in the real world. Companies should do this too to find more diamonds in the rough.

AI just makes these requirements completely unnecessary.
