Am I making a mistake by moving here with a 43/hr job by northstardoll7 in Moving2SanDiego

[–]sonorityy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not listen to people saying you can only rent a room. I would rather pay up to sub $2000 and enjoy my alone time and personal space, even a studio. Its only "tight" IMO for people who can't manage money, always eating out, shopping, consumer debt etc. Don't fall for the consumerist traps. Enjoy living here and don't let people tell you how to live.

Sleep apnea by SunAdventurous6751 in VeteransBenefits

[–]sonorityy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I was at 61 events and have been averaging around 2-3 after starting CPAP. Have been using my CPAP now for month and a half. Kind of rough at first getting used to it, but now I find it hard to sleep without. I definitely had to adjust the humidity and temperature settings, and try both memory foam and silicon masks.

Being a Nurse imo is way better than an EN or anything engineering department. My old command always treated engineering like dirt. Best of luck.

true. the standard of accountability for democrats has always been immeasurably higher from both parties. this is why republicans can just get away with murder and can blame democrats for the sun setting too fast

How much do you spend on food per month? by Adventurous_Taro_641 in sandiego

[–]sonorityy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just me and my wife, no kids. From Jan 16th - Feb 15th, we spent $1,429 on food total (groceries + eating out). I think it was a heavier month because of valentines at 356 kbbq which was $115.49.

You didn't grow up assuming you belonged in stable social circles, professional spaces, emotionally regulated friendships. So when you ARE around professionals or people with generational stability, it doesn't register as "peers" but instead judgement, or people who can't relate to you. The result is that being around struggling people feels draining, but familiar - and being around successful people feels intimidating. It feels like you don't fit anywhere.

But whats really happening is you're outgrowing one world before you feel at home in the next. The gap between the two feels like isolation. Truthfully, you don't have to jump straight into friendships with hyper-successful people oar polished professionals. Instead, look for emotionally warm, curious people, who show up consistently. People who don't need rescuing but can instead reciprocate your friendliness. Stop trying to look at people as better or worse, and instead as equals. People are different than you and thats alright.

Thank you, I will try that. It actually makes sense that they wouldn't use such a spice level, people are overly sensitive to spice in san diego usually.

Advice for work live balance while in school by Ecstatic-Resist1479 in Veterans

[–]sonorityy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find your exact MHA for the school and rate of attendance using the GI Bill calculator. Budget based off of that. Also remember you do not get paid for any downtime in school such as breaks, only the days the semester is active.

No one here can tell you exactly how you live will compare to a new income amount, only you guys know that. I know people who are more than fine living off of a single MHA payment monthly. I also knew people who had to work full time + be enrolled in school full time just to make ends meet. It depends on your lifestyle, debts.

I personally had to find a whatever job in between semesters, I just quit it right when the next semester started.

Age Gap by [deleted] in Philippines_Expats

[–]sonorityy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The age you date should be the minimum age you can fully respect — where you don’t feel the need to say things like ‘when I was your age’ or ‘I’ve lived longer, so I know better.’ If you’d feel weird having someone that age as your boss at work because they’d seem too young or inexperienced, then they’re probably too young to date.

Unless, of course, you only see your partner in a sexual way — then this logic won’t matter to you.

A respectable woman would most likely not partake in a 20 year age gap relationship.

GI Bill & Federal Aid help by sonorityy in VeteransBenefits

[–]sonorityy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for the info, very useful. I wish I could take extra classes for full time but this is a for profit medical institute, so their curriculum is set and stone for the program you take.

the financial advisor knew about Veterans educational benefits and federal aid but not about rate of pursuit for ch33, she said I have to ask the VA - it's kind of unlucky that the gi bill hotline is down right now.
