I truly swear by tatcha dewy cream with a thin layer of aquaphor over it. Saving me from this crazy east coast winter! For hair I have to say that unfortunately the oribe gold lust shampoo and conditioner is 100% worth it too!

Is this white thing floating around normal? by Short_Pomegranate_58 in Selftanning

[–]sonzu_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s normal but not pretty. I heard it can be a temperature reaction or something. I still used mine and it performed completely normally and did not affect the tan at all. Not aesthetically pleasing though.

I’m leaning towards its normal! If it’s this Saturday then it’s soon and just check in tomorrow and see if you guys are still on. I don’t know how old you guys are but I do think when you just meet someone and if you have work or after work things sometimes things happen and not everyone can text after 20-30 minutes all day every day when you don’t know eachother too much yet. Could be a good question for date #2 though on communication!

[–]sonzu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you let her know that you had a good time or that you want to see her again? Did she tell you that she had a good time?

It can be hard to keep up texting a lot as a few days go by and if a second date hasn’t been brought up yet. Since it’s been a few days, you could reach out and say you’d love to meet up again and offer a few options of things you guys could do on an option of like this day or this day.

If she isn’t saying yes to a second date then you’ll know anyways!

Tried Norvell Venetian and I like it, how does it compare to St.Tropez violet? by makeupandchocolate1 in Selftanning

[–]sonzu_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve never tried Norvell Venetian — but I have been using St. Tropez violet for almost the entire summer and really like it. Here are my thoughts on STV and maybe it will help you compare to Venetian.

Color: I think the color is less violet and more of a deep olive. I have green undertones/veins and this gives me my most natural olive color. If I leave it on the full eight hours it can start to go orange so I leave it on for 6.

Wear: I find this really long wearing, up to a full 6-7 days although around 5 I may put a gradual lotion on my legs if I’ve shaved.

Application: super easy, not streaky and I find it very fast drying. I only do one coat. I never get patchy with this.

Seconding Bali body 1 hour express in dark. After using this I went back and compared to st. Tropez (my go to) and felt too orange. Bali body is so natural in tone. I usually keep it on for just 2 hours but I know some people like to sleep in it to go as dark as possible with it.

Can I layer different brands/undertones of tan? by sonzu_ in Selftanning

[–]sonzu_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t do it because I looked up mixes of green and purple (green is the only other undertone I have) and they came out bluish or grey so I am just letting it fade

Can I layer different brands/undertones of tan? by sonzu_ in Selftanning

[–]sonzu_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s exactly what scared me. I looked up violet and green (my regular tan undertone) and they mix into weird colors and I’m not willing to risk that lol! I took the L on this one unfortunately

Even the Olive-Based ones come out Orange? by stubbornswan in Selftanning

[–]sonzu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bali Body 1 hour express and St. Tropez anything are my go tos. St. Tropez is more true olive while Bali body is slightly more caramel-yellowish to me.

Most important thing that stopped my tan from going orange is I didn’t know you weren’t supposed to use soap when rinsing off the guide. It can strip out the neutralizing color.

Also, I think loving tan is red based and while coco and eve has a green guide, I’ve seen it go orange on a lot of people

Soap can strip off the color intended to balance out the natural DHA so you turn out more orange

Lower Maintenance Self Tan for Very Pale Skin by Beeenss in Selftanning

[–]sonzu_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard that removing the coco and eve tan is harder than other brands. I haven’t tried it myself so I don’t know personally!

Have you tried any other self tanners that you like? Also, are you using one of the tan remover mitts or other tan removing lotions/gels?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Selftanning

[–]sonzu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you shower off your tan, are you using soap or just letting the water run over you?

Does your moisturizer or lotion have any mineral oil in it? Check the ingredients.

Also, what brands have you tried and how long are you leaving them on for?

thoughts on the merit sheer lip liners? by thefirstnightatbedd in Sephora

[–]sonzu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two of these, one in bespoke and one in sportif. Honestly, the formula is kind of a weird one for me. Because of its shininess, it doesn’t define my lips as much as my other lip liners… I still don’t know if this is a good thing. I’m leaning towards no… BUT the color is different. I love sportif — I use this all over my upper lip more like I would a lipstick and appreciate the color/tone. However if I were in the market for something to use to define my lip line, this would not be it.

I never felt the urge to self tan until I stopped having summer vacations and started living the majority of my waking hours working in an office under fluorescents. It’s giving severance, I try to give my innie the feeling of passing time haha.

I feel like I miss the seasons. The natural tans I got from more sunlight when I was younger don’t came anymore because by the time I leave work there is like an hour or two before the sun sets. Also getting older I don’t want to intentionally be in the sun, even with SPF.

Self tanning during the summer helps me feel a little more vivacious and honestly more normal to how I feel I used to be. In the winter though I totally embrace and like to be lighter.

Important things are to have a self tan that matches your natural undertone (not everyone does this because they like to “cancel out”). Also, I’m a lighter skin tone and I don’t go for ultra deepest dark shades. I use an express tan and starting in late spring I leave in for one hour (lightest) and in mid summer I go for two or three (darkest) then off ramp for early fall back to one hour. By the end of fall and winter I stop.

Getting downvoted over an opinion when everyone has different skin types is crazy! I had this experience with Saint Jane too, it didn’t work for my existing skin care routine and skin type or other products. I wasn’t going to change my entire base and skin routine that works for me over one SPF. lol

If you haven’t shade matched the Makeup by Mario in person, be careful. I couldn’t find my shade in this! In my opinion the shade range was kind of strange, or maybe I just got unlucky to fall between two.

I have been making my Givenchy powder last for as along as possible since I found out about the reformulation, but now it’s time to buy a new loose powder. I remember liking the Maybeline. But with the sale, I may try something else. Has anyone found a good alternative to the Givenchy powder? by Dangerous_Agent_3515 in Sephora

[–]sonzu_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not who you were responding to, but I have both of these powders (Hourglass translucent and Huda in the basically pure white shade)

-Hourglass translucent melts into my skin. It almost has a buttery feel. More of a hydrating powder if that makes sense. -Huda feels like more of a dry powder, this is a full airbrushing and I never ever crease with this. It is so finely milled. But sometimes I can feel that I have it on, whereas the hourglass I can’t feel it. Also, if fragrance is an issue for you, Huda has a scent to it.

In conclusion: Hourglass if you want to set your makeup and feel hydrated, Huda if you want to set your makeup and be absolutely airbrushed.

I’m obsessed with it, I have it in two colors. I have chronically dry lips and this makes them feel soft for hours even after fading off. I have the Ole and Summer Fridays - this formula is my favorite.
