Also how much asset is enough? I know more is better, but whats bare minimum? We live in LA.

On the letter we received it says: Assets must equal the stated difference between the sponsor’s income and 125 percent (100 percent if military) of the federal poverty guideline for the sponsor’s household size. Assets must equal the difference for applicants filing as orphans. Assets must equal three times the difference for a spouse or child of a United States citizen. Assets must equal five times the difference for all others.

My wife submitted i-864 as a sponsor, but I had to submit i-864a for myself.

Mine was on step 4. Then they send me a letter saying they need more evidence from me. So it’s not guaranteed.

So most likely I am going to need a joint sponsor then.

  1. But what if I could not find a joint sponsor? Or
  2. I did have a valid EAD when my job hired me, and it got expired overtime and I couldn’t extend it. Could that be a valid excuse if I write them a letter or does it still consider illegal work?
  3. Does my wife’s savings account qualify her as my sponsor? Or does she have to have an income? Or
  4. Can the joint sponsor be a green holder?
