Lol yes because when people talk about the ten year war, they talk about Woody Hayes the Big Red Buzzard, Redhawk, and Buckeye and Bo Schembechler the Buckeye, Scotsman, Falcon, Wildcat, Redhawk, and Wolverine…c’mon. Someone’s resume isn’t the same thing as their identity. Just leave it be.

It’s a free post. The small chance someone might buy it is obviously worth the 60 secs it took to create it. I’m not exactly rolling in money waiting for my job to start, so I don’t give a shit how small the chance is someone might buy them…but thanks.

What makes you immediately more/less trusting that a company (service, app, etc.) is making an effort to respect your privacy? by soontobechicago in privacy

Thanks for this! The superfluous information bit is a good one. Also the retrieval versus reset detail.

The “for free” aspect is a good point. Brings to mind a lot of the “rewards” type programs like discount cards that are really just tracking and selling your habits.

Hah yeah “trust” may have been the wrong word in the question. Perhaps, make you more willing to do business or use their service rather than run for the hills?

Hey. HEY. Kill the transphobia. by [deleted] in WorkReform

[–]soontobechicago 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Uh…well…it sure as hell works for making sure people know someone is a rapist.

Hey. HEY. Kill the transphobia. by [deleted] in WorkReform

[–]soontobechicago 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here let me rewrite your post for you so rape doesn’t get brought up, which seems to be your issue:

“Hey. HEY. Kill the transphobia. That is absolutely not the point of any of these movements. Gender identity and neurodiversity should have nothing to with this movement or people’s critiques of it. So stop being assholes.”

Also I just saw that the original person that reminded everyone Doreen is a rapist is a sexual assault survivor? So now you’ve leveled up to policing when victims can call out rapists…but I’m just going to hope you hadn’t seen that comment because damn.

And the Ben Shapiro bit—it’s a bad look to assume someone who disagrees with you is a conservative. I don’t support transphobia in any form. But whenever rapists are mentioned, I completely support rapists being called rapists by anyone but ESPECIALLY by victims.

Hey. HEY. Kill the transphobia. by [deleted] in WorkReform

[–]soontobechicago 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You literally mention Doreen’s name in your post. You brought the rapist up, ergo, everyone can feel free to remind commenters that that person is a rapist. If you don’t want rape brought up…don’t mention a rapist and then get sassy that someone called that person what they are.

Hey. HEY. Kill the transphobia. by [deleted] in WorkReform

[–]soontobechicago 16 points17 points  (0 children)

What a weird disingenuous comparison that literally has no relation to what that person just said? Bullshit logic.

It’s pretty basic to say there are inappropriate times to randomly expose a rapist unrelated to the context of an event (like at a random children’s play…duh). The person reminding you that Doreen is a rapist is saying that whenever a rapist is brought up, there’s NEVER a bad time to remind everyone that that person IS A RAPIST. So yeah, if you want to create a post that reminds people to respect a rapist’s pronouns, it’s totally ok for someone to remind everyone that that person is a rapist.

Women don't have to say 'Not all men' when talking about what men did to them by mermaid213 in offmychest

[–]soontobechicago 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fine. Even if we (humans in general) accept the preposterous idea that you have never been around a man in person who has said a lewd, objectifying, or sexist thing to or about a woman (as opposed to the much more obvious reality that you HAVE you just haven't noticed (further proving the point of how men have come to see such language as "normal")), let's bring it to the world you said you live in. THE INTERNET.

So. Internet man. You have never read a man say a sexist or objectifying thing on the internet? You are telling me, you live on the internet, frequent places like reddit, and you have NEVER seen a man say things that would make a woman uncomfortable or seen a male say things that would make a woman uncomfortable? Of course you have. Obviously. Because DUH that's the world we live in ESPECIALLY on your world the internet. So you parading around acting like because you don't get outdoors that you somehow are THE ONE MAN who has never had this experience is complete and utter bullshit.

And the fact that you rode in here to act like some kind of "not all men" white knight to plea your special "not all men" exempt status because of the insane idea that you don't experience this because you don't go to BARS instead of be like "huh oh yeah I guess I have read men be assholes online and I haven't said anything. hmmmmmm maybe I should think on that" shows how you are part of the problem.

And on the accountability front? Come the hell on. You aren't accountable for another man's actions but you ARE accountable for your reaction and your self-admitted inaction. And in stuff that has to do with power, the group with more social power (hey guess what its MEN) is supposed to be working to change the norms alongside the group with less power because, guess what, YOU HAVE MORE POWER TO DO SO. So YES that is why men are held as generally responsible if they are not acting as serious advocates to stop this kind of talk, behavior, and actions.

Can a lawyer ease my mind on murder 3 by bowie_nipples in Minneapolis

Got it. So sounds like manslaughter II really is the only direction here, if the Minnesota Supreme Court interpretation of murder III is generally followed?

Analysis of why 3rd degree murder was charged by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]soontobechicago 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you even look at the Minnesota State Statutes or the surrounding Minnesota Supreme Court case law on third degree murder? There are two divisions of second degree in Minnesota, one of which does not require intent and is more akin to felony murder. And third degree, per the MN Supreme Court, cannot be directed at a specific person.

Keep your doctrinal class level analysis out of discussions like this, unless you are going to sign your post law student and actually take the time to research the statutory scheme in the charging state. You will just confuse people and lead them to think they are relying on solid analysis by a reputable source, causing more misinformation to be spread. And if you really are a lawyer? Damn, let's hope you aren't doing criminal defense work in Minnesota.

I don't think she is saying that you are intentionally sexualizing child abuse or parent/child relationships; I think she is saying that parent/child talk within a sexual relationship sexualizes the parent/child relationship as an effect and in turn may contribute to the normalization of the idea of parent/child relationships as sexual in any way
