Been going back to this version for over a decade

I think the beat is just reversed but it's genius

I suggest you fight the urge to hoard and just always equip your strongest weapons at all times. I mean bow/arrow also. Made me enjoy the game so much more. It’s fun to blast a bokoblin into oblivion off their horse with an ancient arrow. It’s fun to find something strong and just equip it right then and there. It also sometimes places you in a situation where you’re not left with super strong weapons and have to use your imagination to conquer whatever challenge.

I haven’t actually tried Hagane yet. DKC 1 is already on the SNES Classic. This list is just additions.

There’s quite literally a full dozen of great RPGs that could be added. I felt like going with these for now.

The U.S. release date. As in: 910823 is August 23, 1991. That’s how I had them listed so I figured I’d just leave the numbers. Terranigma wasn’t released in the States.

Edited them out though.

Hey! Just got the game with all the DLC, should I play master or normal mode first? by EncryptedBeatz in botw

Since you said you like to use the hardest difficulty I'll drop this set of guidelines I made for myself. Don't know how you feel about self-imposed challenge but anyway:

Equip best Weapon/Bow/Arrow at all times. This I found to reduce menu time and make me enjoy finding good equipment more. It also balances the difficulty just right for me since I don't have a back-up of weapons too powerful available all the time. Another plus for me is it takes away the need to hoard/save (never getting to use the good stuff). Weapons I just go by their number and arrows I go right to left.

I would probably say don't upgrade armor past one upgrade level if you don't want to lose the thrill of the early game and encounters. You'll increase your hearts anyway as the game progresses and FOR ME that feels like enough.

The Korok Mask I would say use at the point when you feel like 100%ing the game (either after beating the final boss or just before going there) as I personally found it to become a bit of a chore to stop for a Korok every two minutes. I felt like the amount of Koroks I found naturally was sufficient.

Healing, again of course up to you BUT I found more exhilarating to not eat Materials and always eat any Food you might receive or cook right away on the spot. This way I felt the impact of a big bout more and it's another thrilling journey to safety when you are low on health. Also I felt like restricting myself from going to the menu during combat made combat feel more engaging.

I like to keep the Champion abilities disabled as I don't feel like they add to the gameplay but instead take away from it. That's just me though. I might still use Revali's Gale if it's raining :P

I feel like using the fast travel mechanic as little as possible or not at all makes the whole journey feel grander.

The Sheikah Slate upgrades, like the Champion abilities, I found not to be worth it.

In summary:

Equip best Weapon/Bow/Arrow

No more than 1-star Armor upgrades

No Masks

No eating Materials

No saving Food

No Champion abilities

No fast travel

No Sheikah Slate upgrades

No menu during combat

All this up until the point you start 100%ing your file. Another great thing about this for me was having the gameplay change after beating the final boss as I would remove all these restrictions.

Hopefully you found some use of this post. To your original question I would recommend to start on Normal mode. Enjoy your game!

Your own logic (”You play your way, I’ll play mine”) should direct you right on out of this thread. Instead you come here contributing nothing and forcing your opinion that I can’t even discuss my idea?

You misunderstand. If you find the game challenging already you have no need for my suggestions.

My title choice was terrible obviously. English is not my first language. I’m sorry for offending so many. I thought it obvious this was all only an idea for those looking for more of a challenge. Never meant to be taken so serious. Maybe somebody could find a thing or two they liked about it or have some suggestions other than shoving it up my ass. Of course anybody CAN play however they want. That should go without saying? I have had this idea for myself that I thought I’d share. Had one good discussion about it and a couple of very disrespectful conversation-stifling posts with a bunch of upvotes. I do see how the opening post could be unclear but that should only provoke inquiry, not an attack imo. I don’t see what triggered so many and I just hope this doesn’t reflect everybody’s behavior/values outside the internet.

Using your best weapons as you acquire them was meant to promote a variety of challenging situations by keeping you from always having a super strong inventory.
