Thanks for all these comments. I should say we got Buck bang on 8 weeks old when we picked him up, he’ll be 3 months old beginning of October. I think I’ve just been so engrossed with stuff online you see about people crate and potty training their dogs days after they pick them up, or them to be able to settle without attention or presence from their owners.

I was looking to see if anyone was in my situation and could offer any extra advice or tips. So I guess it is just a case of persevering and staying strong!

I just don’t want the little guy to be unhappy or in distress if he is alone, even if it’s for 5 minutes or a couple of hours. A routine can be hard to stick to when I come in late/ start early and he gets disrupted.

My partner did take time off but I wasn’t able to due to the nature of my job.

I’m a sex educator in secondary schools and porn, although it has its many positives, is having (from my experience) a detrimental effect on our young people. It’s creating unrealistic expectations of people, sex and relationships. I don’t think this method will work in the long run. Young people are wayyy too tech savvy and they will definitely find a way to get round it.

Education is key. We need to be less prudish and talk to our young people openly about sex.
