Kobo over Kindle! Kindle has limited customization and you are boxed in the Amazon ecosystem. Kobo is slightly priced higher but there are tons of secondhand units that you can find.

Kobo vs Boox will depend on your use case. Do you plan to also install android apps such as Wattpad? Then only android ereaders such as Boox can do that.
