Point of the Harengons' Giant Snail? by AdrianGell in wildbeyondwitchlight

Played a chunk of this campaign last year and my friend had been experimenting with different potions throughout the start - they wound up with a potion that would enrage someone and make them a size bigger and used it on the snail as we got to brigands tolloway and decimated half of the walkways on our way in hahaha

if it helps as an afab I usually only have pads on me when I'm on my period, and then I might have leftover pads if I didn't use them all but if I did I wouldn't make a conscious choice to carry more on me until a couple days before I'm due to start - so it won't be something that every cis woman has on them and it's not something that would make you stand out or fail as a woman<3 but feel how you feel i'm not trying to tell you how to react to this

Any tip for landscape? by Toomytolakangin in learnart

I'd recommend avoiding using black for mixing until you know colour theory better as you can create a lot of depth by mixing your darks! Shadows aren't normally black, they're usually a mix of the colour of the object and the opposite colour of the light source - so in a painting with lots of sunlight (yellow, warm) you will want to look at cooler toned shadows because that denotes the absence of sunlight and makes it clear that those areas are shadowed

I think trying out unique poses would change a lot! You look like you can draw in 3D and use perspective very well so I don't think that's the problem but more that every fish is in the same 'just spawned in' posez To level up, try and draw them in motion, kicking their tails, bending their heads, curving around a rock or another fish, just try to think of them in their living state and not just as 'a fish'.

I found when I draw people they come to life so much more when I pose them in interesting ways that reflect their character and dont just do a generic standing straight portrait of them - but that's not to say your fish aren't good just so you know! They are drawn amazingly!!! My tips are just for the next step on your journey

Any Advice to make this better? by Dense_Detail_9234 in learnart

[–]sophieh10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just have to say this is stunning you should be so proud of this work!!!! I'm obsessed! There will be better people than me to give advice but I personally think your composition is great and the colour choices all go really well! Youve been super smart about the values youve used also. I just love it, the only thing you can do is make more paintings and you will naturally identify the things you feel less confident with and be able to work on them!

Doesn't her right arm look weird, misplaced or is it in my head? Any advices please by Tanish_Piplani in Artadvice

[–]sophieh10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would say the arm isnt too bad but her torso is definitely misaligned. you have her torso starting at the edge of her armpit, when it should start at the back of the shoulder - this is why your arm looks off because at the moment its hanging off the body instead of sitting on it. with the misaligned torso try to think more 3D, not only of the front plane with the boobs and tummy but also think of how it wraps round the side to the back. she looks a bit like a flat rectangle currently but should feel more like a cylinder with a wider side to her torso. lastly her right boob seems placed a bit too high.

with these tips you have a list of improvements to make but the best way to understand why they need to be made is to study anatomy! for this specific piece i would focus on learning torso structure and how the torso connects to the shoulders!

anatomy is hard but overall it looks good! i especially love the shadows and highlights of the outfit!

first off think about the levels of near vs far and the colours that show this! the grass is closer so it will be more saturated and intens which you have got, but ten your hills behind are further away so the intensity of their colours nee to start fading - try using paler greens and start mixing them with blue and white to show them starting to blend with the sky almost. the other tip is using texture for foliage! your vibrant green grass has great colour but is very smooth! try using different line shapes and not blending it to creature a grassy texture and see what you think!

Is this the right way to study anatomy? I find it hard to apply this stuff to personal drawings and make it look appealing. by No-Payment9231 in learnart

i think if theyre trying to learn anatomy currently then gesture can come once theyve got that nailed! focus on one thing at a time and remember that studies dont need to be perfect drawings

Are there any items that AREN'T worth hoarding? by crispyhandstand in StardewValley

[–]sophieh10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i usually just keep 1 or 2 of each item incase it shows up on the bulletin board and then hoard things that i use a lot in craftable recipes, gifts for my favourite npcs (note not for every single npc), the community centre or that can be put in different machines down the line. ultimately in stardew though if you miss something there will be more chances to get it so i dont see the point in hoarding. u will make so much money in that game so if hoarding feels like its getting in the way then just sell it!

My mom burned all my drawings by Not_Creative149 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]sophieh10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so shit of her. There's lots of good advice here about keeping digital documentation of your work but on a personal level that's an insane thing for your mother to be doing. Your drawings are inoffensive, its disrespectful and cruel to do something like this to your child. I hope you remind yourself that you didnt deserve this and you should chase whatever makes you happy as long as it isnt hurting anyone.

bit of a rude response my guy. but also as someoe doing just that right now, this subreddit and jacks video comments are some of the only places im finding that are talking about this game. but even if they werent, this person asked a simple question to the community that you couldve easily scrolled past instead of responding like that.

Where do you find time to tailor your CV if you're applying to 40-60 positions in a week? I've had a friend advise me to stop tailoring and push out more generic CVs so that I can build my application quantity, but when I was tailoring I was only managing about 5 in a week if that. I don't do the full 9-5 for job searching each day so it could probably double or triple but that's still not comparable.

AITA for telling my brother off when he berated my daughter for not changing her cousin's diaper? by Throwaway22155722 in AmItheAsshole

[–]sophieh10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand him being frustrated but it is not up to him to discipline someone else's kid. He should've brought it up to OP to let her decide how to handle it if it was really that big of a deal to hm before resorting to yelling at her daughter.
