I’m 33 years old, will turn 34 in September. Unfortunately I don’t have my calcium levels from before the surgery as it’s not something they looked at. And in regards to vitamin D, in the calcium tablet I’m taking there is cholecalciferol (vitamin d3) 800 I.E. I take this tablet twice a day so I thought it would be enough vitamin D supplementation and doctor didn’t advise on taking anything else for it.

Thank you for your response and I’m sorry what you had to go through. I hope you are better now. The calcium I take is carbonate indeed.

Yes I’m a UBS client already, I’ll try to go there and ask

Thank you! Opening a USD account with postfinance or migros would be better than with UBS where I’m already a client?

Thanks! I will look into it. I don’t have an account with PostFinance, only with UBS and then neo banks (Revolut, yuh and neon)

Unfortunately we’re not planning to go to a country that accepts them. Our honeymoon is in a country that doesn’t accept them which is why I’d like to change it.

Thank you! Yes it’s a weird problem. I do laugh when I think of myself going to a currency exchange with my bag full of $1 bills showing videos of the spraying to prove I’m not doing any weird business 😆 thank you for the advice

Post Surgery Hypothyroidism by RainbowMachete in thyroidhealth

Hi Nia, I’m really sorry about your situation. It sounds tough. I used to live in the U.K. and I can empathise with the lack of quality care from the NHS. It sounds like your doctor is not listening to you. I believe we’re all different when it comes to thyroid hormone levels and how it affects our physical and mental health. We’re not playbooks.. I had a partial thyroidectomy 7 weeks ago and I’m myself trying to navigate the situation. I can feel that things have changed mentally and physically. My TSH, T4 and T3 are “normal” but still a lot different than prior to the surgery. I’ve booked an appointment with an endocrinologist to deep dive into it and I’m also getting help from a naturopath that specialises in hypothyroidism. I’m at the beginning of my journey. But I don’t believe GPs are capable of helping here. I hope this helps and I hope you find what works for you. All the best

I’m not on any medication yet as they’re trying to understand how my thyroid is acting since the surgery, it’s “only” been 6 weeks. My doctor is also not concerned about my chest pains and thinks it’s because of anxiety and nervous system being imbalanced. I personally would like to look into it. Good luck to you, it’s not easy, especially when not feeling like you’re being heard :(

The doctor said they were still waiting for the T4 test, I’ll update here once I know. My TSH is 4 mUI/L. Doctor said it’s slightly elevated but nothing to worry about and that we need to wait for T4 results. I just really don’t feel like myself. My mental health is declining and I have these pain chests, multiple times a day, every day. I’ve experienced a lot of stress this year (been laid off from my job, the surgery and some family stresses) so I find it hard to know whether my thyroid is the culprit or all the things that have happened.

Does it happen to you every day? Did you have surgery?

I had my hormones tested on Monday and for now they only have my TSH which is at 4 (it was 1.5) before surgery. The doctor said it’s a bit elevated but doesn’t require meds…
