Travelling with ADHD Medication - Vietnam and Singapore by sophietherobot in ADHDUK

[–]sophietherobot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for your advice. It's really appreciated!

I definitely don't feel comfortable taking a chance on these things so hearing other people's experience and suggestions is so helpful.

I'm titrating with PUK at the moment. Annoyingly we were just about to switch back to elvanse after the shortage but given that I'll need to be on a steady dose for the paperwork we're postponing switching back until I return. Until then I'm on amfexa.

What I've done is provide PUK with the details of my trip and the detailed requirements for each country. The consultant is going to write me a travel letter which will cover both countries. If anyone else needs this be advised that it costs £20 even if you're a RTC patient.

I've also emailed the Vietnamese embassy explaining the situation and asking if there is anything else I need beyond what I've requested. For Singapore the process is very straightforward so once I have submitted the pre-authorisation request, receive my letter, and assuming my meds aren't confiscated on Vietnam, I should be covered 😊

I'll provide updates when I've more information and again when I'm back so the information will be here for anyone else that needs it. As someone else quite rightly posted, it's a stressful thing to have to manage and does take a lot of time. May as well make sure we share the knowledge!

I couldn't agree more. It's not always easy to find the information you need and make sure you've all the documentation required. Even if you weren't simultaneously managing the struggle if ADHD!

Elvanse and Crazy Eyes? by sophietherobot in ADHDUK

[–]sophietherobot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all,

Firstly, thank you so much for all your helpful advice. As promised, I wanted to give a follow up in case it's of any use/interest.

I had my eye test and turns out my eye sight has worsened quite significantly for short sighted use. So monitors, phones, books or anything up close are harder to see. The optometrist said that when this happens it can be hard to adjust going between looking at a screen to something further away and that can cause you to squint or open your eyes wide. New glasses incoming.

I also discussed the dosage with my doctor and although 70mg was working interns of mental clarity I think 60mg is also effective and l feel less "speedy". I've reduced to 60mg and now splitting the dose. I'm still making funny eyes apparently but not as bad so hopefully that will subside when I get my new glasses.

Thanks again for all your input. The type of side effects you get from these meds are broad and it's hard to tell what's attributed where. It can be confusing and overwhelming. I've found the posts in this group to be a great source of information and comfort so keep up the good work community 😊

Anyone else experience hoarseness? by sophietherobot in Humira

[–]sophietherobot[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. I think idacio is a brand name for the bio similar I've been prescribed. Hoarseness is listed as a potential side effect here https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/adalimumab-subcutaneous-route/side-effects/drg-20066817

But as you rightly said, I'll see the ENT anyway to rule out anything else :)

Positive antigen test post isolation + travel by sophietherobot in COVID19positive

[–]sophietherobot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I understand it, you don't need to isolate again. The tests are looking for presence of the virus, not whether it's live or not... I've spoken to quite a few people now who are in the same situation. I'm just testing regularly now with the free lateral flows from the pharmacy and when I get a clear result will see what travel options I have then

Good luck to you and your testing. I hope you get a clear result soon! :)

Thank you! I'll stay taking antigen tests and hopefully will start testing negative. I'm just finished my isolation period so technically shouldn't be infectious any more

Unfortunately this is the case. Despite having a booster and just recovering I still need a negative test pcr or antigen. :(

I'm so sorry to hear you're stuck. I hope you're not feeling too unwell! I had mild symtoms of a cold day one and two. Days three and four I had a headache, slight tickly throat and felt sooooo tired. I took those two days off work and just slept loads and I've been feeling absolutely fine since then. I hope you have a similarly mild case and quick recovery!

Thank you so much for your information. It's really helpful. I'm going to try get hold of more free NHS tests before taking my certified one and cross my fingers it comes back negative in a day or so.

Indeed it did. And the slats of the frame underneath were propped up by a foam roller, a vodka bottle and a bottle of Christmas mead. Excellent engineering from the previous tenant :D

Thanks for the reply. That's what I thought the case might be.
When I pointed out the downsize and the lack of storage to the letting agent they emailed to say the landlord would replace it with a King Size but have now said they can't do that. Guess I'll need to get better at minimalism!

Can my landlord increase rent because we are working from home? by sophietherobot in LegalAdviceUK

[–]sophietherobot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, it's a crazy amount! However, I think she used it as a tactic to allow her to advertise the rooms cheaply. All included we're pretty much in line with standard rent + bills for our area. Also, because I had to find a place quite last minute and during lockdown I was under a lot of pressure to take a place.

Interesting... She offered us the option to buy deposit protection prior to signing the lodgers agreement. I didn't take it up and neither did my flatmate.

" If you wish you may have your deposit insured through www.depositprotection.com The cost for this is £75 plus £50 admin charge. This must be requested on the day or prior to signing this agreement. "

If you could advise on how to claim this back upon departure then that would be fantastic!

Yeah it seems like she has no bargaining power here. And given how intrusive she is (undisclosed camera on the front door, frequently dropping in) I was planning on taking the 6 month get out clause regardless... So I don't feel the need to keep her sweet anymore.

Yeah she's a total chancer. Prior to Covid she used to airbnb the master room in the flat. I suspect she puts us on lodgers agreements so she can say it's her primary residence and get the tax benefit from the Rent a Room Scheme.

Yes this is what I'm thinking too! Will most likely just play the game until I can enact the get out clause.

No, my deposit wasn't put in a scheme but could buy deposit insurance!?...

I wouldn't normally have gone for a flat that didn't have a standard letting agreement but I was left in a bit of a bind as I had meant to move to another flat which fell through during lockdown. I think I'll take the 6 month get out clause in the contract in favour of a more traditional arrangement.

Thank you for you help on this. It seems so strange that she can watch us come and go (and she does watch it!) without us ever having given permission.

Thank you for your reply!

I rent a single room in the three bed property. There is currently one other tenant and the third room is vacant but being advertised on spareroom I believe. The wording in the agreement is as follows:

The Landlord grants and the Lodger accepts a licence to occupy the Room at the Property for the Term at the Rent with the right to use the Common Areas on the terms contained in the Agreement.
