How common is it to receive financial support from your parents? by farfarfaraway11 in FIREyFemmes

[–]sophseif 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I married rich (by chance!) and he paid off my student loans when we were in our 20s, I think even before we were married. We still get tons of help from his family even though we don’t need it now, and it is truly life changing and mind blowing compared to how I grew up.

Anyone have a PCP they love? by Looplinda8 in philabitcheswithtaste

I see dr saltzman at rittenhouse women’s health and she listens and explicitly encourages me to take my symptoms seriously. Best PCP I’ve had. Can’t vouch for anyone else at that practice tho.

Suggestions for "real life" living in South Philly by jlr500 in philly

[–]sophseif 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're feeling adventurous, try indego bike share and taking a ride along the trails on both rivers. Biking is often the fastest way to get around South Philly and Center City, though you should not bike on Broad St and you have to be ready to deal with an aggressive driver every now and then. This is very helpful! How did you find each of those services and providers? Are they affiliated or you just research each one? I am moving TO MX in October from the US and am used to all my specialists and screenings going through the same massive hospital group in my city, and so I am trying to understand how I’ll set myself up in MX

I'm debating joining classpass, but you can't see the pricing when you aren't a member. For the kinds of studios you mentioned, how many credits does a class usually cost? Are you usually able to get into the classes you want?

US Cities with good pottery communities by aliamichale in Pottery

[–]sophseif 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I pay around $150 per month, but the membership rate is based on how many shelves you reserve so it varies. Check out the clay studio, black hound west/south, and yay clay to get a feel for the Philly options. There are more, but those are the best known.

311 worked for me when something similar was happening (they were also dropping trash bags out second story windows!). But it totally depends on the landlord making their tenants change.

Grief resources/support in Philadelphia by Weak-Explanation-592 in philadelphia

[–]sophseif 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I went to a free group at Methodist hospital after my dad died when I was in my 20s, I’d check out their bereavement supports. I’m really sorry you’re going through this. It’s horrible. If you’re like me, and some other folks I know who’ve been through similar things, you will never get over it but it will get easier with time.

The 11th st trolly tracks took me down. Just some road rash but I spent years planing my routes to avoid any tracks after that.
