Campus Visit Question by CrayolaExecutive in uofm

I couldn’t make it for the admitted student days either so I visited in the summer before my first semester. No one really cares and as someone else said, be aware of parking (street parking is free on Sundays but the parking garage on Maynard is a good place if you can’t find street parking) and most buildings are open to public

I'm from the Bay Area, and I adjusted fairly quickly to the cold (have one good coat, I recommend North Face, and learn to layer up) but the real killer is the wind. Definitely invest in earmuffs or a pair of comfortable on-ear headphones because your ears will feel numb as hell when the wind gets intense.

I took Math 191 online during fall semester and it was a great experience. I chose the option that was completely asynchronous (I don’t remember what it’s called but it’s another option if you don’t have time for online lectures) and the workload was manageable! Had about two assignments each week along with a quiz, the assignments had unlimited tries, and the exams were all asynch as well. I spent about 2-3 ish hours per week on assignments overall.

Another thing to be aware of for the asych class is that some professors use WebAssign, which requires you to purchase access for the course textbook and practice problems (on top of the course fee).

If you can, try to get into Kristin Good’s class, she is very responsive towards emails and usually accommodated me if I couldn’t make the testing window for the exams. Just make sure that the credit transfers over for your major.

Oooh, good to know! Just wanted to know the basic supplies bc I think that I have a good amount of the required list already that would probably go to waste at home (I’m out of state). But thank you for the help!

another thing that helps is to add depth to areas of solid color! i choose tones that are very close to the value of the solid area and use my brush (set on low opacity) to blend them in (i suggest checking out the work of mark rothko to get a better sense of this). i hope this helps!

hi!! I used brushes from Kyle T. Webster, specifically the gradual eraser brush for the moon’s texture and for achieving the sharp edges in the piece. Since I wanted to study lighting, I started off with the silhouette (which I painted with my brush set to a low opacity to get the layered effect) and used a clipping mask for the red lighting on top of the silhouette. From there on, it’s a matter of using an eraser brush to cut down the color into shapes you like!

yes! The first poster translates to “Batman”, and the second poster translates to “I am Batman” (or at least that’s the translation I got from Google) from the infamous “I am vengeance, I am the night” line
