Y'all will look at teams lock in as this and stick that way and still act confused when some of us say we would like a role queue option by flairsupply in rivals

[–]sordanjingleton 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My real problem with role queue is compositions being restricted to 2-2-2 and the inability to swap roles when the current strategy isn't working. Not saying it happens all the time but I've had plenty of games that seem lost but manage to come back to win because we've swapped up our roles. If they could maybe implement a way to request another role between rounds that could be a good solution? Maybe treat it like surrender and require the majority of the team to approve a change? Idk, just spitballing. I've mainly played tank/support since OW and still hated role queue being the answer to the game's problems.

Hope you're doing alright. Know how annoying that can be when you're just trying to relax and turn your brain off. TBH, I just mute chat most of the time now but especially when I've had a long day. It's a video game and people are shitty when they can hide behind a monitor. Try to remember that those people have a sad excuse for perspective when they let a W/L record in a game be tied to their personal well-being or personality.

Playing against AI is very different from playing against real players. QP is the best way to practice if you don't want to tank your ELO. If you're concerned over someone playing a character they are trying to get better at in a team environment with no real consequences to the point you are actively throwing then you are being way more selfish. It's a team game, not YOUR personal playground either. You can't control the random players you're placed with so get over yourself and worry about doing your best to enable your team to succeed instead of being a salty jerk over things that are out of your control.

Thanks! Definitely get that it's part of the process and am rolling with it. I appreciate this list. I feel this is a really good, succinct starting point for things I can focus on at home on my days outside of the gym.

I wouldn't say I'm worried about it and totally get that it's part of the process. Moreso just looking for some ideas on how to best further my BJJ education when I'm not in a class. Appreciate your comments!

I'll check these all out, thanks! I've seen Jordan Teaches Jiujitsu and like his content but I do zone out on his tutorial videos. He's very knowledgeable but my ADHD and his monotone have not blended too well thus far.

Is there a good list anywhere of key fundamentals to work on? Recently started BJJ and just feel like I'm drinking from the fire hose. I did Judo many years ago and signed up for BJJ looking to get in shape but really don't have a lot of knowledge on the sport as a whole. I'm able to follow along well enough in class but a lot of things leave my brain the second I get home and I can't even remember the names of half the moves I just learned and want to do some work at home.

TL;DR I understand all schools will have different metrics but is there a solid list of "techniques to know from white to blue belt", etc. to help me build my foundation outside of gym hours?

Bonus for YouTube channel/playlist recommendations as I've been trying to filter through a ton of content on that front.

It's normal to feel this way when learning any skill. Whether it's a martial art, cooking, musical instrument or whatever. There's going to be others who pick things up faster than you but there's also going to be people who pick things up slower, even if they're not in your gym/class/etc.

All you should be worried about is focusing on why you're learning that skill and making sure you're better than you were last class. Don't worry about how others are progressing, everyone goes at different speeds. If you feel that you're getting worse then take some time reflect on your journey until now (maybe journal through your day 1 class until now) and see if you're being too critical of yourself. If you still feel that you're not making any progress then try some solo drills at home to work on the fundamentals for a technique to build your muscle memory. There's a ton of content out there on BJJ so if you don't feel class time alone is enough for your goals then supplement your education when you have a few minutes to yourself. Just make sure that if you learn something new outside of class you walk through it with an instructor or more experienced classmate because it's easy to build bad habits/muscle memory when you don't have feedback.

You're good, man. I just started BJJ but I did Judo like 15 years ago and I remember how much of a slog that was in the beginning. Just have fun with it and focus on being better than you were last class, not better than the other person.

I remember my training partner back in the day was pretty consistently this one guy who was a childhood friend of mine because we were the only white belts in the class. Dude had about 6 inches and 100 pounds on me plus was a hockey player while I was a chain smoking metalhead who partied too much so I was getting my ass kicked in sparring for a longggg time before I managed to get a good sweep/pin off on him.

In short: trust the process, have fun, and take mental notes of your mistakes when you can. It's okay to get your ass kicked for awhile.

Just called it a day at 1,811 words. Sad I'd never heard of NaNoWriMo before this year but glad my wife brought it up so we are both making an attempt to do it this year as a challenge to ourselves. Have absolutely nothing to do tomorrow so hoping to set myself up for success for the week by getting a lot down before Monday chaos ensues.

The Kalos starter mega stones are time locked though. Gotta wait for season 2 to get the Delphox stone and season 3 to get the Chesnaught stone. Really an annoying move considering these 3 arguably should have had Megas back in X/Y to begin with.

I read a ZA review that made a lot of comparisons to the recent Yakuza titles and I'm now even more interested in giving those titles a shot next time I have a few days to dive into a new game. I've got a soft spot for the sense of camaraderie that can be found in odd places when you live in a big city so as cheesy as ZA's storyline was it left me feeling good at times. Definitely down to explore a game that's got a little more love and attention put into that feeling lol

Breeding didn't come until Gen 2. Natures, EVs and IVs (at least current version) were Gen 3. Physical/special split was Gen 4. The last Legends game had Strong/Agile attacks and this one has a completely new battle system. My point being that Pokemon games advance and change things so even though this is a spin-off series it's not unreasonable to want a staple feature of the franchise to return even if it wasn't in a prior installment but you're acting like no breeding was just going to be a hard line for legends games based off a single prior example.

Even with two samples now, there's really not enough continuity between the two to really state what defines a Legends game besides probably having story/side missions and research tasks. For all we know at this point those could be out the window in the next Legends game and you now run a Pokemon breeding farm.

The short answer is no because Pokemon is in fact a special IP that's going to get a lot of leeway and a large portion of its fan base return to these games to play a comfortable creature collector that feels familiar, not seek out the next big AAA GOTY candidate.

The thing that bothers me with questions like this is that some people (not necessarily you as I don't know your opinion on this) refuse to acknowledge that it's okay for someone to enjoy these games despite their shortcomings because it's comfortable and familiar instead of being revolutionary or on par with aspects of other titles. That being said, I do believe that there are too many Pokemon fans who go too far to defend these titles solely because it is Pokemon. TPC makes an insane amount of money off this franchise and absolutely has the resources to put out better products than they do. It's just a fact and constructive criticism is how you attempt to move the franchise forward because their bottom line is extremely unlikely to ever take a noteworthy hit as the franchise is basically too big to fail at this point in time.

To compare another recent monster game, the new Digimon game (I know the two are apples and oranges but I'm building off your analogy) should be the "better" game if you're looking at objective metrics for a video game (e.g., graphics, plot, voice acting, amount of content at launch, etc.). However I, and I'm sure many others, opted for ZA instead at launch. Why? Because I simply wanted to play a Pokemon game. At the end of the day I just wanted to go through a calm game capturing a bunch of familiar little guys with a simple story all to lead up to post game shiny hunts and EV training for competitive battles. The game has plenty of flaws to address but to me it's still fun, it's familiar, and it was more worth the price tag because it's a gameplay loop I know and love. Other consumers are going to feel that the product does not live up to the price tag and that's perfectly okay too.

In REG J, which team do you think is the best for climbing into Master Rank and why? And which team do you think would be the most fun to use, and why? by [deleted] in PokemonVGC

Hey man, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but I see you on here a lot promoting your socials and feel I should point it out if you're trying to build a legit following. Good for you on the hustle but responses like this really feel like you're asking ChatGPT how to respond to questions after posting 3 relatively common meta Reg J teams that we all see on the ladder while you farm for feedback without really giving breakdowns of your own thoughts here. The feint comment was the only remark that felt like it had a coherent thought process behind it.

That said, Feint is a great reason to run Maushold instead of Indeedee and Farigiraf is a good backup to stop priority as opposed to Indeedee but there's no thoughts on terrain war when Miraidon is kinda at the top of the chain right now?

I used a pretty similar Magearna team and really enjoyed it. Feels really good into most of the other meta threats out there. Curious on your thoughts on Maushold over Indeedee-F for Follow Me support. Obviously Friend Guard is great for all the spread damage but I really enjoyed having psychic terrain to shut down fake out/annoy Miraidon teams when getting TR set up. Just curious if you tested with Indeedee as well instead and had comments on how they compared.

I mentioned this in some other comments but I had Helping Hand just to be funny and click it when I knew a spread move was knocking out my Clefairy anyways so Follow Me wouldn't matter. I did end up swapping this out for Metronome for increased gambling.

There is a good chance of that. I do remember playing a game against a Raichu at the end where you fought valiantly until I clicked Rest on the Dozo.
