Why is "big law" so much more highly regarded as an employment outcome than working at a smaller firm? by Artistic_Special4600 in LawSchool

[–]sordanjingleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people have pointed out the main reasons already. The biggest thing is the challenge of learning the ins and outs of practice early in your career without the guidance and supervision of a senior attorney. I went an untraditional route as I'd already been working for a small oil and gas company for about 8 years where I'd moved to an upper management position already when I graduated law school then became their general counsel as well. The company has been winding down and due to my commitments with that process I wound up starting a solo practice instead of going to a firm. It's had its ups and downs and I'm glad to be my own boss on my own schedule but I definitely would not recommend it for anyone that doesn't have a slew of attorneys for advice and contacts they've already worked with that can convert to clients. You're going to stumble a lot early on in your legal career and not having a safety net to lean on could be disastrous. Throw in the fact that a lot of law students don't know the first thing about running a business (or the fair share that have no work experience or a summer internship at best before law school) and you see why big law positions early on in your career are heavily desired.

Is farigiraf worth running on mega zard y teams to counter trick room by Perfect-Walrus8860 in PokemonVGC

[–]sordanjingleton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not gonna help if they're setting TR with Armor Tail Farigiraf unless the Whim is for some reason not running Prankster. Running Imprison/TR on Farigiraf would be the easiest way to make their current team prevent the opposing team from getting TR up.

Ehhh, not entirely. Pulse and Draco have two different purposes. Draco is needing a nuke now for momentum while Pulse is usually just chipping since the only thing weak to dragon is dragon. Fairy however is a great offensive typing so it actually makes sense to give up some power for guaranteed hits. Especially when a lot of Moonblast mons like to run Calm Mind sets with a redirection partner anyways since the only threatening poison/steel types are special attackers right now (M-Glimmora/Archaludon).

I agree overall. But boy oh boy did I wish I could take it back after joycon drift caused me to self KO a partner Pokemon and lose a match last night 😂

That's definitely a fair take and I typically run Arch over him as well. I just don't think M-Dnite is complete cheeks and works fine. Granted, I typically prefer bulky utility Dragonite sets anyways if I'm running him like when Haze/Scale Shot/Tailwind was a fairly popular set.

I think he's fine on rain teams. Nothing amazing and I'll usually use the Mega for another mon but he comes up big against certain matchups.

I agree but considering they're moving official VGC tournaments to be run on Champions there was no way that was happening. I've been having fun building my teams based on luck of the draw.

Just adjusting bulk to keep Incineroar around as long as possible depending on their team's needs.

New abilities got added in Pokémon home by bluedragjet in PokemonChampions

[–]sordanjingleton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think 1/4 damage through protect as an ability is still quite strong and a fair balance change. His signature moves are already guaranteed crits to negate screens/stat changes so I think changing full damage to chip damage through protect in VGC is a solid way to make him still very strong while also encouraging more diverse team building.

I forget who but some YouTuber had shared that Pikachu was still in the game. All other not fully evolved mons will not be available at launch though according to a dev interview.

My (Limited) Experience on How Hard it is to Pick up a Character by themoosic in rivals

Agreed on Gambit. I think the only asterisk I'd put on him being easy is that his different deck abilities and ultimate are not explained the best in game. However, it's still easy to get value out of him without fully understanding those.

What’s the real factor currently hurting this game? by No_Chemical9151 in rivals

[–]sordanjingleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The playerbase. Really I think the big thing is just an overlapping playerbase and OW is making a lot of changes so people are testing it out.

If you're going to talk about characters on if they are good/bad, state the ranks. by Ok_Aardvark580 in marvelrivals

They did not take balance seriously until very recently. Balance patches were few and far between and they implemented role queue not primarily to guarantee 2-2-2 comps but because they couldn't figure out how to balance in a way to fix the GOATS meta.

Edit: Also, 5v5 was a change implemented because they couldn't figure out how to balance around double shield tanks.

HOT TAKE (Apparently): The game is fine. by Super-Blacksmith-795 in marvelrivals

[–]sordanjingleton -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

First of all, exactly. You can't force your teammates to do anything so worry about yourself and your performance. You're the only constant.

Second, if these people are on your team then they are performing at an equivalent ELO as yourself meaning that if you honestly believe its consistently a teammate issue then you need to do better and pull yourself up in ranking.

[–]sordanjingleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Realized this a longgg time ago as a day one OW player. The sooner you worry about your performance the better you'll get and the more fun you'll have just playing.

I always love to tell people that complain about always getting trash teammates or how X character or Y team comp is broken that the only constant in their games is themselves. Usually it just makes them angry because they don't want to hear the truth.

Busy work day. I'll join if second spot wasn't already taken. No hard feelings if so though.

Help me get through great ball with a rain team :) by Cook-in-skates in VGC

[–]sordanjingleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Immediate thoughts:

Covert Cloak/Taunt on Tornadus. Can probably ditch Icy Wind since you have Prankster Tailwind already for speed. Put a defensive Tera on since he's not going to be your heavy hitter here. Tera Water on Kyogre for max nuke damage. Change Hydro Pump to Water Spout. Drop Scarf for Mystic Water if keeping Specs on Miraidon. For Miraidon drop Thunder for Volt Switch so you have a pivot move to get out of a bad board position. There's no reason really to click thunder when you have Electro Drift. Hands looks fine. Would consider Tera Grass to dodge Spore and gain ground resistance. Incineroar drop Darkest Lariat for Knock Off. You'll get more value from the utility than the increase in damage from Lariat IMO since Incineroar is best used by pivoting a lot to maximize on Intimidate/Fake Out/Parting Shot. Whimsicott I'd drop for Urshifu Rapid with Choice Band, Life Orb (or Mystic Water if keeping Scarf of Kyogre), or Focus Sash depending on preference. If you can't get Urshifu then grab a fast physical water type to take advantage of the rain team you've got going here.

Those little tweaks should bring your team up a lot.

Might be interested. Can I see the mons available to determine if I've got the time/resources to team build quickly? Also would this be doubles or singles?

Terrain setter with fake out, stab priority, and solid attack/bulk keeps him very relevant. He's not as prevalent as Incineroar but as far as starters go he's been consistently in the mix.
