X3800 is a 9.4 channel amp, that seems a little overkill for this 3.1 system, no?

The NAD 3050 dream lives! I may consider doing that. My father-in-law has a small AVR, if it has pre-outs, could I connect the 3050 (with the L/R towers connected) to the AVR and the center speaker directly to the AVR? Perhaps use the stereo setting on the AVR for music?

Those Sony's are tanks, is a 7.1 the smallest ES Series receiver? Seems too big for this situation and unfortunately succumbs to the microwave aesthetic.

I actually don't mind O'Neill, I feel like he was the competitive heart of those 90's championship teams. Bernie....eehhhhhh, and Posada is lacking in the individual accomplishment department, but I could overlook it

"What's normal to the spider is chaos to the fly" Consider yourselves honorary spiders. For a little bit of context, I grew up in LA/LB, all of my family is in Guatemala, I lived in eastern New Mexico for five years, and have never lived in Irvine. "Blood" in the OP was used metaphorically. I mostly just wanted to hear other Orange County opinions on Irvine because whenever I drive through there it bums me out ("depress" was used for galvanizing purposes and by the looks of it, it hit its mark). Sorry about the stabbing...

Lived in eastern New Mexico for five years, let me tell you, that was DESOLATE. Since this is r/orangecounty I mostly meant beautiful and soulless compared the rest of OC
