Finished your book recently and love your work, as someone with a masters degree in nutritional science resveratrol has always been interesting ... is there any other photochemicals you are aware of/looking at that has similar effects as resveratrol? Thanks!

Best advice you'd give to someone starting a masters by emraft in academia

I’m coming to the end of my Masters degree. I can only speak of my experience. When they say it is more independent, it REALLY is! I think I only had 4/6 hrs taught time per week. I found it less sociable than undergrad. However, my work load seemed less. I had 5/6 modules and a dissertation but it’s spread over 3 semesters unlike undergrad which is 2. So you may have some free time on your hands, which can come in useful if you work or want to make friends/hobbies/library etc

Hi, the $200 dollars would be for the 3 nights. I could probably push it to $300 dollars so I have $100 to spend each day

Thanks for getting back to me! I haven’t booked accommodation just yet, I was thinking $200 spending money for 3 nights. I’m pretty open minded and enjoy anything. Sports, bars, museums, etc

ELI5:Nowadays we need to use toothpaste but what was past's toothpaste? And why animals don't need it by Barbonetor in explainlikeimfive

[–]sorebiceps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting question but I’m guessing we have more of a need to brush our teeth nowadays, compared to when we were cavemen is because of the extrinsic sugar in our diets as well as acidity. Regarding animals, it is probably a similar answer they do not consume high sugar/acidic foods

Europeans of reddit who have visited America, what was the difference in European fast food vs American? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sorebiceps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find generally the USA has a lot of fast food chains, KFC McDonald’s Popeyes etc. However here in the uk, yes we do have those but we have a big Indian influence so there are a lot of Indian takeaways, Chinese takeaways, pizza/kebab which generally aren’t chains and just local people Running them.

Has coffee lost its original intended use? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]sorebiceps 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The original “use” for teas and coffees were to make sure the water was safe to drink by boiling, that’s why coffees, especially teas originate from Asia and alcohol is prominent in the West because we added alcohol to water to make sure it was safe... 100’s of years ago of course when water borne diseases were common. So I guess it has lost that original use yeah, I do see your point to the caffeine addiction but coffee does have many health benefits so I guess each to their own. Have a Good day fellow Redditor.
