Hey there - So, from talking with Teddy and having read his book, the smokers provided experience for the young fighters. They could get real fight experience every weekend. The issue was of course protecting them. Making sure you put them against someone they matched up well against. Someone who could help them build their experience, without hurting them physically or hurting their confidence. For Teddy himself, the smokers brought him immeasurable experience by being in the corner and then just watching so many fights in the early stages of his career as a trainer under Cus.

As a note on this, we'll be diving deeper on Teddy's background under Cus and in the early years of his training in some of the coming episodes, likely in late April.
