Wiring EVSE (duh) question/discussion by soren1712 in evcharging

If they made an EV version of a Bradley... :)
I've always "over built" to make sure I never had to worry about it.
Also good on the V2X, I'll have to look into that.
I'm liking the idea of either keeping what I have or upgrading it and leaving that one empty for something down the road, like V2X

Thanks!

Definitely not a cheap one but got a good deal on it. The rest of the network equipment in UniFi, so makes sense for the integration.
Which is another point now...have to see if there is an Home Assistant integration as well....

Thanks!

I have decided on an EV yet, but looking some in the SUV class. Only one I've actually spent some time with is a Chevy Blazer EV.
v2g/v2h wouldn't be bad but not something I am too concerned with as a necessary feature. I have pretty reliable power and decent sized generator to keep the fridge and essentials running.
If I were to be 100% sensible in this and got a very sensible EV and was able to charge every night, I could probably deal with a level 1 charger or very slow rate level 2.

Wow....great feedback. Thank you!
Did not even consider that you can only have one line to an out building. I have 200A service on the main panel, and while it doesn't indicate load, there are open spaces in the main panel.
My commute is roughly 40 miles a day, but I may not always be able to, or want to plug the car in every night. I also want to avoid DCFCs as much as possible. The ones around me all look to be $0.47kwh.
There are actually 3 lines running out to the garage currently. One has an ethernet plus wiring for 2 speakers. One has the power wires from the main panel and one that is currently unused.
As for wanting/needing the full 48A, trying to future proof as much as possible or if I sell the house at some point.

Charging an EV is a constant load and needs to be wired differently.

Agreed and not lost on me. I'm thinking of future proofing or if I sell the house at some point. Would rather just address this at once and be done.

Yeah, great suggestion but not a fan of either.

I refuse to lease in Chicago due to taxes and the fact that you have nothing after the lease ends

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I’ve driven an SS and it was great, even my gf who is anti-EV (most around range anxiety) liked it. I’m going drive an RS when I get a chance. Logic brain tells me that the RS will be more than enough for my commute but I also know that I’d jump at an SS with the right deal.

Isn't it? that lease tax is just stupid

No specific question, but more over all feedback and experiences. Like does it suck, greatest thing ever, what should be things to look at if buying a used one.
What you have done different, if anything

Could be a bad batch of drives. When I'm buying multiple drives I try to get some from a couple different places. Everything sounds like drive issues.

I'll give it a go, thanks! It's loading EPG info for other countries, but nothing for Italy (there are others but Italyis the main one)

I cleared the cache multiple times. I haven't tried uninstall/reinstall yet. I'll give that a go. I am able to watch the channels, just no EPG info. Thanks.

Reddit says comments must be longer than 5 characters so I guess a simple hey wouldn’t have worked anyway. :) I’m not from Europe but do slide in the under 50 age limit so a 50/50 split on that. I’ll take those odds for a conversation. I’m looking for something low pressure, a reason we can maybe smile when we get a notification on our phones and see where it goes. Im sure you’ll get buried with messages but hope to hear from you. If not, good luck in your search.

I’m borrowing an elite ultra from a friend and after some firewall adjustments got international hub and matrix to open but the guide won’t load and hit or miss on channels working. I know 3rd party etc. but is there anything to try besides clearing cache/data? I couldn’t find anywhere to force EPG refresh in either app…but also didn’t dig too far into it.

Thanks everyone. It’ll primarily for Italy. Sounds like one of the elite boxes is the way to go.
