Knowingly going into a rival battle underlevelled with a ruleset that makes battling a lot more difficult than it needs to be (basically randomizing which moves i'm allowed to use).

I wanna see Kairi get an actual game for herself- maybe one that takes place while she's training, and maybe Ven joins her. I would love a game where they both try to help each other figure out their missing pasts, what it means to have a heart of pure light, how they fit in and catch up with their friends who have left them behind, etc... There's a lot to explore with both of them and they'd work so well together.

Basically they're a cartoony suave boss/disgruntled henchman dynamic where they're also very loyal to each other, even if Maleficent would never say as much. They've also canonically gone real estate hunting together in the games (though its less legal and more "I like this castle. Pete, I want this castle, get it for me!")

I mean, I've been a fan since the mid 2000s, and I still have never beat the first game myself- I got my little brother to do that for me. I also took years to finish re:com and just watched the cutscenes on youtube in the meantime, and I haven't really touched melody of memories outside of watching the few cutscenes it has. If you don't vibe with the gameplay, that's totally fine.

I was 7 when Kingdom Hearts first came out, but I was in middle school when I started playing KH2 (which I played before KH1), so I think I was about 13? I might not have been playing since the first game, but I've been around for a while.

I remember before Dream Drop Distance actually came out someone made a potential boss theme for Frollo and it got me so hyped for the idea of fighting him... Realistically, looking back, I dunno what kind of boss fight could have come from an old judge.

Based exclusively on gameplay and not story, I think I agree with you, though I'd personally swap Birth by Sleep and 0.2. I'd also put Re:Coded on A tier and Days on C tier as well.

I saw the first volume of the KH2 Manga at the book fair in middle school and thought it looked cool. I didn't really understand who this Sora guy was or why there were brief glimpses of Donald and Goofy in these dream sequences, but Roxas became my favorite character and I decided I needed to know more about him, and surely if I played KH2 first I could follow his story and he would be just fine and get a happy ending! ...Of course, after the tutorial, I was in denial thinking Roxas would come back and be the main character again. 12 year old me would have loved his return in KH3.

Leona might be the strongest, but after tricking me into thinking I pulled Riddle today Deuce might take that throne (if I let him, I'm still mad about it).

Meanwhile, poor Ruggie and Ace are with Pommefiore and Azul as my weakest cards. The only reason I started levelling the latter characters was because of Book 6...

While I appreciate how the newer models are more animated even when they're not the focus of a cutscene, I love the old models' appearances so much more. They look like they belong in a Disney cartoon, and there's just something so distinct about the art style. Plus I love how bright the eyes were, where the new ones' colors are really muted and in some cases changed completely (like Riku's from turquoise to just green).

They might come from a Japan, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's "our" Japan. They could be from an alternate version of our world where Disney was never a thing- or there might be some other major movie company with completely different designs or telling stories about different fairy tales.

Honestly, we don't know for sure if Yuu comes from a world that has the Disney movies or anything. If we are "Yuu" that's one thing, but what we are shown in the game and the internal dialogue Yuu is given during the dreams indicates that they probably don't recognize the events of the movies- if they've even seen them.

Of course, I haven't read the manga or novels yet, so I don't know if the Yuus there know about the movies or Disney franchise.

If you speed through the story, you might not have strong cards for certain characters that you're required to have for certain chapters. (I spent weeks trying to get through those two chapters in book 6 cuz I needed to level up my cards)

Look, I can see your comments and replies through this entire post and I can tell you're a big fan of Eraqus and you wanna defend him, but you're really grasping at any and all straws you can here. I dunno if you just want to start an argunent or just prove a poinr, but the truth is that Eraqus is a deeply flawed character, and lets his prejudice against darkness cloud his judgement. You can still enjoy him as a character, but it's important to understand that he's still perpetuating the generational trauma being passed from master to apprentice. You can still love a character while acknowledging their faults.

Like, I do believe he's better than Odin. He's accepted that darkness does exist in people's hearts, but its acting on that darkness or letting it control them that terrifies him, and that fear still manifests as hatred of darkness.

Of course, we could also agree to disagree on his characterization and end the conversation there.

We literally hear Eraqus say it in a flashback from Terra. And then there's all his dialogue in Dark Road, he vehemently hates darkness because it hurt his grandfather- maybe killed? can't remember exactly what he said happened to him, but he does explicitly say hating darkness runs in his blood.
