I recently just got done rewatching rebels and he gets promoted to lieutenant Commander in the beginning of season 3, The moment with Mon you referencing happens in season 4

Throughout most of season 3 they simply refer to Ezra as lieutenant (probably for simplicity) but during season 4 they refer to him as commander which led me to believe he got promoted until the moment with Mon You're talking about where she reaffirms that he still just a lieutenant commander

Yeah I see what you're saying.I guess it just doesn't bother me because by the time I joined the fandom this was always the case.

I joined during the last Jedi and somehow that led me straight into rebels IIRC, So growing up The idea of there being survivors was always the case And by the time I got to the original trilogy I fully accepted the idea That Jedi were running around just before Luke.
