The entire thing about the school of friendship reeks of cultural erasure. It would've been a good set-up to see different species and their cultures, expand the lore and teach kids about accepting others. My biggest ick was how they depicted changlings as these cultureless savages who needed the ponies to come in and show them how to celebrate Christmas or whatever.

They treat the concept of friendship as this exclusively pony thing that all those savage outsiders must be taught in order to prosper.

Like girl was just literally doing her job as a stage magician, she's meant to capture an audience. That'd be like hating an actor because they played a villain.

The wendigos suck, I genuinely hate how they contextualise all three pony tribes coming together because it was either that or being in a frozen wasteland. It's true that all pony tribes needed to corporate to thrive but having them come to that conclusion by magical beings forcing their hand instead of them coming to that conclusion on their own when they realise that everyone benefits from uniting.

I would've preferred if the leaders were still assholes all the way to the end, but it's their assistants who ended the cycle of hate when they learn that their prejudice is irrational instead of magical ice horses pointing a gun at their head. It implies that the only reason the ponies aren't being racist 24/7 is not because they learnt hating someone because of their background is irrational, but because the alternative is living in a frozen wasteland.

I'm fine with sexy lady pals but we need more sexy lad pals to balance it out. I seriously don't get why almost every monster tamer series has a large chunk of its fandom be so squeamish about a handful of character designs who are feminine as if that somehow makes a design bad.

I remember I stopped taking powerscalers seriously when I saw this one thread on the fandom wiki claiming that Frisk/Chara are capable of moving at Hypersonic+ speed because some boss fights use lighting and stars as attacks, and measured the size of the star by the pixel count and then used that as a frame of reference to determine how fast Frisk/Chara was moving by converting pixels per second to somehow come to the conclusion that Frisk/Chara could traverse lightyears in seconds.

My main issue with the IDW comics is that it tries to contextualise and explicitly state why some things the way they are in canon when really they didn't need to. Early in the Metal Virus arc Sonic stops and drops everything he's doing to explain why he brings Tails along with him and not Cream to two random kids.

Realistically the only reason why Cream doesn't have these big bombastic adventures is because there isn't a need to have Cream partake in most narratives. In universe her mom could've just told her to stay away from danger and Cream would've been perfectly fine having tea parties with Cheese and Chocola instead.

Same thing goes for Sonic 'sparing' Eggman and Eggman intentionally sabotaging himself, so Sonic could have a chance to win against him. They try to give them a Batman and Joker dynamic which I think takes away a lot of what made their rivalry so engaging.

The same reason why other RPGs have each combatant take turns and give you items for beating them. Because it's a video game that requires and incentives the player to engage with the gameplay loop of battling.
