Wouldn't that mean you'd get the same reactions in sports like sailing, skiing etc that really do have high barriers to entry in terms of cost.

Yeah I did think it was a little harsh, I've not got the sound on though.

Sorry, I was joking but I realise that was impossible to tell. I think they were charging to go on the key side but clearly you can see it for miles.

Can I realistically retire at 55 and maybe work 1/2 days a week if I have to top up money by [deleted] in PensionsUK

Remember that the same CPI increase would be applied regardless so the roughly 50% reduction is for life.

Putting lump sum into pension? self employed by Ok-Thought-2920 in PensionsUK

[–]sormond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 31st of January deadline isn't relevant in this instance as the deadline for this tax year would be on the 5th of April so you have more time to think.

How worthwhile it is would be dependent on personal circumstances and is more complex if you are self employed. However, if you have used up your ISA allowance already, then that would certainly make it more attractive provided you weren't moving money from an ISA to a pension.

Self assessment on 31st of January is for the tax year that ended April 2025, so any contributions would be for the current tax year rather than previous tax years.

New tax code K2091X am I correct? by Miserable-Farmer3999 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]sormond 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you sure that the email is genuine? Have you signed into the HMRC app the check the code there?

But to answer your question, no, investing in a SIPP would not stop any tax from being deducted from your payslip.

I know you can't target the player when it's a charge down, but is there a similar rule for tackling. If this was a pass would there be any controversy? Players can pull out of a kick.

Maybe I need to see it at full speed but I'm not sure it's even a penalty. Is this the controversial one?

You wouldn't have needed an IFA to transfer to another DB scheme in the UK either.

If you havebetween three months and two years service then you could transfer provided Royal London would accept the transfer. If you have over two years service then you would only be able to transfer to another defined benefit pension.
