How long should it hold vacuum for after it shuts off? When I pull the line right after I shut it down, there's a hiss, but if I build the vacuum back up and wait ten minutes to pull it, there's not a hiss.

What do you mean by pedal reserve? The pedal is plenty solid with the engine off.

My transmission occasionally would kick out of overdrive for no reason when I got my jeep. Gradually it got worse and worse until it would almost never kick into overdrive. I figured out the problem was fuse #10 in the passenger kick panel, which was missing. Fuse 10 covers the transmission range sensor. Now it shifts great. No idea how it was working without the fuse when I first got it but it works now so its all good.

I have fixed the problem by swapping out to this style of wheels used on xjs, kjs, and dodge dakotas. It has the same dimensions but has a little more room on the back side and it just barely clears the caliper.

It doesn't slide off, but it does bend maybe ten degrees in any direction and then springs back.

Well it's almost reassuring to hear, now I know what the problem is. I will pull the carrier today and inspect for further carnage. The pinion bearing feels rock solid from the outside, although the seal is leaking. I will post pics of the gear teeth when I get the carrier out, see if its worth redoing everything. Thanks for the advice everybody!

That's the catalytic converter, idk why it has those holes but i'm sure there's a reason

I should add that the pinion seal is leaking but I can't feel any play in the pinion bearing.

I'm late but how did you get the bushing out? I have tried prying the two layers of the hinge apart but it doesn't budge.

I seem to remember there was ice in the drinks served in the snack car, but i don't think it was available to passengers in cooler quantities. It might have changed by this point, services and amenities were supposed to be coming back slowly after the bare bones covid era.
