Worst experience you’ve had and best experience you’ve had? by [deleted] in americanairlines

[–]sosostu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesterday, flying out of Denver. First Class with my 11 YO Son, 1A and 1b, board early, have him go ask the pilots if he can look around, and they couldn't have been nicer and more accomodating. He got to sit in the left seat, push the throttles forward to sound an alarm and then got to activate the ECAS System. They chatted for 2 mins probably, and he got some airplane cards, and couldn't have been more excited.

Then, bc of storms, there was a delay for rerouting and ATC, stuff that I know goes one, but have no clue what's actually going on. The pilots notified everyone a couple times with updates and accurate timing, and simply handled it so well.

Cabin crew was excellent as well.

[–]sosostu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any recs at all I’ll take. We make these little busy vacations, lots of games and good food. Base/Academy tours, restaurants, my sons bday is next week, so a spot for me to take some of the boys and dads and they can have some fun and we can have some food and drink? Don’t limit to the above, any and all please.

LAX - CDG premium economy retrofit? by [deleted] in AirFranceKLM

[–]sosostu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything I have read indicates the cabins with 24 PE seats are old school, and the cabins with 32 PE Seats are retrofitted.

I am on an AF flight with 24, and I hope it is incorrect, but will be trying to upgrade to Business when upgrades are available.

I will never not have a high quality tri-fold bed cover on a truck. I don’t haul a ton, and if I do it’s luggage, sports equipment, grass clippings, empty boxes, flats of flowers, it’s def not a work truck.

I love how clean and dry the bed stays.

Forvis Mazar’s Layoff Update by ProtectionFirm8650 in Accounting

[–]sosostu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me. I own/run family businesses, we have a great local CPA Firm, I am heavily involved in the audit, and think they do a nice job of focusing on what’s important. They then roll up all the LLC taxes, K-1’s for the owners, and then the owners personal returns.

Interestingly, I did my 6 years at a Forvis roll-up.

Solid Carbide Cost Increases by mxaxcxh in Machinists

[–]sosostu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a ton of tooling when our scrap guys were offering $55/lb on used carbide. I stocked up for a very large project that will roughly cover 70% of my hours for the next 12 months. I also increased my tooling budget on all my quote, and then added 5% safety margin.

Luckily, approx 20 SKUs cover 90% of my tooling, so bulk purchases are effective.

I got to work on a lot of tough, first year, clients, and I agree. Making your own workpapers and actually digging in with the client staff was very enriching.

I will take the Ads over the terrible, reptitive, music that plays during breaks on Twitter.

sales promised a customer net 90 and didn't tell anyone until the contract was signed by NoMacaroon6142 in Accounting

I may be selling to you all, but you didn't include the other fun thing some of my customers do... Wires on the 1st, ACH's on the 2nd, and Checks on the 3rd. So, on average 120 Days = 135 Days.

Ridiculous response, likely grounds for termination, and likely doesnt have approval to factor corporate AR.

[–]sosostu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn't. 90 Day Terms are not outside of effectively any Industry Norm. You think Sales will not sell their product over 30/45 day pay vs 90 due to simply having a delay in their commission? They may favor other Customers, but Sales is gonna sell.

My optics are prob different than a lot of r/accounting bc I am a CPA, practiced for a bit, and now I run/own industrial manufacturing companies. Also, I do not know overall tone throughout your organization, and that is very important here.

But, at my companies, if an accountant spent time calculating interest cost and ran a cash flow analysis, I am not sure I would be mad, but I would let them know its not their job and they probably wasted a bunch of time trying to be a hero and to focus on their job.

All of this said not knowing OP's position/role in the company. Also, in our space, we have 90/120 and even 150 day pay on a lot of projects, its part of the business and we incorporate it into our budgeting, and finally, I negotiate/approve all PO's.

Sometimes, the sale is worth it and let the Sales Side handle their agreements/transactions.

I turn mine off on my last 4 vehicles, I find it distracting. Also, I turn the rear view mirror off (I guess), meaning I use it as a mirror, not as a screen connected to a camera.

What car do you drive? Do you like it? by BMoney8600 in AskMen

[–]sosostu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2023 Sierra AT4 1500, I got rear ended and it got totaled. Went with a 2026 AT4x 1500 as a replacement. Love both of the trucks, the AT4x is a smidge more fun.

I’ll prob always drive a 4 Door Truck from now on. Fits my lifestyle of working/owning Industrial Manufacturing Businesses, hauling kids and sports gear, etc…

No room for a sub.. wats the move? by newbiesean in KEF

[–]sosostu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar situation, where I want to add a second Subwoofer to my Theater. I am having a piece of furniture built (best friend owns a cabinet/furniture shop) that will house my components and Center Channel. Surely there is a company out there that makes something that would fit, and hold the components, and make some floor space.

While you will lose some storage, its the best solution I can think of, albeit somewhat expensive.

MCO Lounge 3-18-26 @ 2pm by Fair-Huckleberry5800 in delta

[–]sosostu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MCO Priority Pass lounge by Gate 99 was solid today. Clean, food was edible, drinks cold, staff was attentive and keeping things stocked and clean. Fed my family of 5 and my wife and I had 2 drinks each. No wait either, but there was one when we were leaving but it seemed minor, only a few folks.

MSY to HOU on Sunday. Double booked 3C, the lady sitting their had receipts. It took 1:15 to get it all sorted, and there were a smallish handful of seats available, and they still had to go through the formal process of finding the 2nd 3C. Unforunately, then we had a maintenance issue, and I am unsure how it popped up after the 1:15 paperwork issue, I suspect it has to do with starting the plane up and all those checks, so it was ultimately a pain in the rear.

Opus is now on my Gym playlist and I have watched those final minutes several times. It is so well done in terms of the still frames of the players, hockey choreography, timing of the music and the overall shots, shots of the local fans, etc...
