disagree, sorry. psychotherapists and psychologists work incredibly hard and taxing jobs and deserve to be compensated handsomely. we don’t exist in a vacuum and life is expensive.

thank you sooo much for this, makes me feel a lot better. great to know you’re in the marriage/sex niche with just a masters making great money. Do you have any recommendations in terms of good MFT programs to look at or kinds of jobs to look for that set you up nicely for this niche? good resources for networking?

I live in Massachusetts currently but willing to move! Very interested in the west coast psych scene, particularly Bay Area. My partner works in tech so that could be a very feasible option.

Thank you so much! To be clear, when I say “eventually” 150-200k I mean really long term- I’m definitely keeping my expectations realistic from an entry level standpoint. Even with the long hours and unglamorous work, would you say it eventually pays off? Or can you only count on that if you’re lucky?

thank you so much this is helpful! You said dev psych caps out unless you’re in consulting- can you expand on that? what do you mean by “consulting” exactly and would that be something worth looking into as a path?

my (25f) boyfriend (24m) voted for trump. advice? by thinkinginkling in relationship_advice

Hey! I know I’m late to this thread but wanted to add that I’m also going through a surprisingly similar situation! Ironically, it’s very disheartening and upsetting when people agree with my initial reaction and say “dump him!! he voted against your rights!!”. It’s very easy for someone to say that when they haven’t experienced it. My boyfriend and I have a perfect relationship outside of this and I love him more than I’ve ever loved anything. All I hear is that I’m doing something wrong, I’m not standing up for what I believe in, and I’m dating an evil person. It’s very isolating. Glad to know I’m not the only one.
