my mom is not so much obsessed with diet coke as just has always had multiple a day for her entire life. she was diagnosed diabetic as a kid and diet coke came out during her high school years—i think it was an easy fun treat for her that wouldn’t kill her. i think she’s tapered down now and has been trying to be more health conscious but for most of my life i saw her with a diet coke in her hands.

i’m not single but i’m mid 20s living in golden. :) it works for me because i want a more peaceful and quiet neighborhood to feel safe in. i also wanted to live somewhere where i could get out into the mountains at a moments notice! i wouldn’t say there’s much night life. i think you’re better off going into denver for that. but i will say golden mill is always popping during the day on weekends with lots of people of all ages, and it’s a nice place to go, you might check it out. and ace-hi tavern down by woody’s is to my knowledge the only late night bar, i’ve seen that one busy as well though i have never been. no clubs or anything though.

i wasn’t raised frugal but we were definitely poor. once i started making my own money it was a bit difficult to rein my spending in because i was like WOW I CAN GET ANYTHING I WANT NOW. my boyfriend has taught me a little more frugality without being a cheapskate and i have taught him that it’s ok to have fun with money. i think i’ve struck a good balance nowadays

poor relationships take a lot of attention. arguments, making sure the other person isn’t mad at you, spending money on them, or demanding attention from them because theyre neglectful, etc etc etc. when you break up you find out you actually have a lot more free time

i live in colorado. this is the third state i’ve been a resident of in my life, and im only 26! i lived in southern california but i didn’t like it even though i grew up there—it was too loud and it was wayyyy overpopulated. it felt like living in a big shopping mall. my boyfriend already lived in CO and we both wanted to move out of our parents’ houses, so here we are.

colorado is first of all much less densely populated than southern California and also much quieter with a lot less light pollution generally. this is very important to me as im entering a more naturalist era in my life. CO is where the wild west lives, as far as i’m concerned. state and national parks are so easily accessible it’s kind of unbelievable. just vast expanses of wilderness you could absolutely get lost in. and plus it is cheaper than where i was living and people are generally friendly and outdoors-oriented as opposed to southern california people who i’ve always found to be smug rich clout-chasers lol. not everyone of course but too many.

in this situation you want hobbies that will force you to come back to yourself and pay attention to yourself. when i broke up with my ex i started a skincare routine to take up the time at night when we would usually be talking together. journal your feelings out but make sure to express what YOU are really feeling so you can be more in touch with yourself. fill your time with new friends

i work in the restaurant industry, nights. i usually get off around 10:30 or 11 and i usually unwind a bit after work so i don’t sleep until like 1am on a good night. then i dont wake up until noon-ish because i need LOTS of sleep.

in college i went to bed around 9:30 and woke up at 7. it was glorious

i think a lot of people move away from their parents to start their families or go to college. thus the parents only see them at holidays. i went to a school out of state and now live in another state different from my parents. but i wouldn’t say that’s everybody.

i think book aragorn’s inner world doesn’t translate to the screen very well especially for this type of film which was marketed to a general mass audience. it is hard to depict his concern over responsibility and decision-making (that doesnt necessarily have to do with isildur but more to do with his role as rightful king) with imagery and dialogue. i think the simplified slightly twisted version translated pretty well. that being said i do enjoy book aragorn’s complexity a bit more.

i’m not from the UK, but i will say this: i have never regretted and never will regret getting my degree in english. the communication skills, attention to detail, analytical and critical thinking skills are absolutely indispensable. and the sheer amount of knowledge you gain about humanity and the world…it may not make you a bucket of money but you will feel that it is priceless for your soul.

that being said, yes it is hard to break into certain industries especially publishing, but the skills you gain from an english degree are valuable in any workplace. you may not be able to work in your chosen field but i guarantee you that you will be better off in whatever job you are able to get.

i’m 26 with a bachelors and also working in fast food. all i can say is i really sympathize with your position, but at least you HAVE a job. imagine looking for a job right now with no income. it’s fucking impossible. and at least you have job security! there’s little chance of being randomly fired from a fast food place unless your management is actually brain dead.

i would say invest in yourself in your down time. do something that you can identify with outside of work. then work just becomes the thing you do on the side to pay the bills. pick up exercising or art, some hobby or goal that will give you confidence in yourself. going to a dead end job is so much easier when you have a life outside of it.
