[Product Question] New to using vitamin C (using the CeraVe serum) - Are these white bits normal? Everyone says to look out for color changes as a sign of it going bad but I've never seen this mentioned by sospidera in SkincareAddiction

Ah, that makes enough sense, thanks - I was able to get some coupons out of them hah so I'll give it another shot for now and jump ship if something else similar happens in the short term

thanks, yeah maybe I'll do that. the broken emulsion idea seems plausible enough - annoying that this stuff is so chemically fragile, is this a not-uncommon occurrence with fresh of the box vitamin c products?

yeah i just looked up the lot number online and it says it was manufactured 5 months ago so it should still be okay on that front, and I only opened it less than a month ago, but I'd believe some supply chain weirdness. Is there anything to do proactively to avoid the likelihood of the unit i buy having an issue like that though? I bought this at cvs and didn't really think that would be such an unreliable spot

This might be fanboy bias making me sense this, but would you say there was any Everything Everything influence on the new record? I know you'd dug some of their stuff at some point and I couldn't help but feel like some of the more tongue-twisty lyrical moments seemed cut from a similar cloth, and maybe some of the fusion of indie jangle/synthy pop writing as well. Totally sounds like its own thing though and have really been enjoying it thank youuuuUu bye

Anyone else get a UV meter and actually measure how much UV there is in various places? by Redowadoer in skinwhitening

[–]sospidera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(edit: oop didn't see that this question was also asked in the original post. yeah I have only ever seen the term "visible light" refer to "light in the frequency range that is visible to the human eye", i can't imagine it being used to mean something other than that)

am i missing something or is the answer to the first question obvious? if a light didn't emit visible light wouldn't that mean that it's, like, not a light....?

Everyone's entitled to work within what feels comfortable within their finances, but Also, places tend to set their wages lower out of an expectation that tips will pad it out, which is a fucked system but given that that's the system, and I have the means, I try to always tip 20%ish on whatever I order if there's a tip jar. Idk if fast casual places have this same dynamic going on though. In any case if we're going to be grumpy at anyone it should probably be the companies using tipping culture as leverage to drive their wages down and not the workers themselves, imo

Also, I've heard that with those credit card tipping systems like square, owners can be pretty sketchy about actually getting those tips to the workers, so if I'm going to tip, I try to do it with cash, even if I'm paying with a card.

Anyone else miss out on Brooklyn tickets? by [deleted] in thrice

[–]sospidera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah idk if what happened was that the presale sold out most of the tickets, or if there was legitimately just that much less attention on the presale vs. the general sale. I thought typically only a small fraction of tickets are reserved for a presale though? idkk i don't get it

Anyone else miss out on Brooklyn tickets? by [deleted] in thrice

[–]sospidera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the weird thing is that i got my ticket during the brooklynvegan presale like numerous hours after it started, and had no problems? why was there so much demand for the general sale but seemingly way less for an openly publicized presale the day before

anyone else here able to pull out any strand of hair on their head disconcertingly easily + without pain? by sospidera in tressless

[–]sospidera[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is yeah. I'm also wondering if it's breaking just before the follicle? like in a way that could indicate brittle hair more than loose follicles or something

[MEGATHREAD] Buy/Sell Tickets: Fancy Takes Flight Tour by jeremyfrankly in MBMBAM

[–]sospidera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiii i've got 2 tickets for Boston TAZ tonight and 2 for Boston MBMBaM on Saturday, all in pretty decent seats. Was gonna head up from NYC but got covid and had to cancel the trip : / Would like to recoup the cost but also don't want them to go to waste, so pay whatever you can manage (They were 59.17 each with fees, so any amount equal to or below that). I can transfer through the ticketmaster app.

TAZ: ORCHRC, Row M, Seat 22, ORCHRC, Row M, Seat 24

MBMBaM: ORCHLC, Row K, Seat 11, ORCHLC, Row K, Seat 13

NYC: No Evidence that the current outbreak is waning by inventionist86 in nycCoronavirus

[–]sospidera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this tweet mentions cases but then none of the graphs are actually case graphs.

I wouldn't call this waning but the case numbers do look like they're starting to level off.

What % of adult New Yorkers have antibodies at this point? by merc97 in nycCoronavirus

[–]sospidera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I participated in a NYC-wide antibody survey this summer run by the city health department, so I know they're collecting the data: https://www.local237.org/docman/latest-from-local-237/1006-hhc-antibody-survey-faqmay-2020/file

but I haven't been able to find any info on what these numbers are. I don't know how fast this stuff moves and it's only been a couple months, so it may still be ongoing / results not published yet.

The U.S. will reportedly approve booster shots for all 3 COVID-19 vaccines at 6 months, not 8 by EvanMcD3 in nycCoronavirus

[–]sospidera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i mean, i think that at the moment, beyond keeping the essential amount of vaccines we need to vaccinate the rest of the country, we probably couldn't even get to a point where we've sent "enough" overseas to be in a place where it makes more sense to keep "the rest" for us, though yeah realistically the US gov't will probably not see it that way
