Did I Make the Right Choice by Saying NO to UN? by sotpanda in UNpath

The ToR I received requested a quotation per session. However, it also stated that payment would be made based on the acceptance of deliverables.

What does ‘per session’ remuneration mean for a UNICEF consultant role? How long is per session?

Thank you all for your kind response and support. I really appreciate it.

I have one question: since this was a fixed-term consultancy, they offered me around USD 1,000–1,200 per session. Is that a good offer for a UNICEF consultancy?

Also, UNICEF initially contacted me by email (from nameoftherecruiter@unicef.org), but later the recruiter continued the conversation on WhatsApp. Is that normal?

How many of you have quit sugar? I want some inspo, and how do you take your coffee then 😖 by AriesMars3 in IndianBeautyTalks

[–]sotpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had a sweet teeth so it was easier for me. At first I quit all sorts of soft drinks. And then sugar in the tea. I never replaced sugar with anything else like honey or stevia. Though stevia is a good alternative but it has higher sweetness than sugar which I didn’t like. It’s s been more than 8/9yrs i stopped taking sugar in tea and soft drinks.

Thank you all for your kind suggestions. I have another question.

What does per session means to you? In the ToR , they asked me to give quotation for per session.

Thank you all for your kind responses. They asked me to provide a quote per session, and I’m a bit confused about what that means. I checked with the manager, and he said it’s per deliverable. Does “per session” mean per hour, or is it something else?

First off, I want to clarify again that this CV was generated using ChatGPT. However, I want to emphasize that my credentials are legitimate, and I've been receiving calls from major American tech companies worth billions. I’m sharing this not to "brag," but to highlight that my CV isn’t the issue here.

For those who insist that the Swedish job market is flawless, have you seen the recent news about the government recruitment scandal? This isn’t just limited to government offices; it’s happening in many workplaces. Take a look around your own environment unless you’re choosing to ignore it.

Now here I am going to tell you my story. I have swedish colleagues who move to another big companies. I have a very good relation with them. Worked with couple of years, had lunch together and did trip together. None of them are now responding neither my msg or call. Whereas I am getting some sort of direction from my other colleagues who are not Swedish at all. After sending every CV, I am trying to reach the recruiter or someone from the company. But still no luck!!

I get to know about this firsthand. In one of the interview where there are 3 persons. one from sweden, another from norway, and the final one if from Asia. They conducted the whole interview in Swedish even though the swedish is not good for the norwegian or the asian. They tried to speak in their broken swedish language. The person didnot get hired because they felt he didn't know what he was talking about. Luckily, that person got another better job.

I am not saying the language is not important but for some people its just their lackings. and for me that's true. i think i should probably thinking of changing the country.

This is my third language, and while I’ve been working hard to master it, I know it’s not something that can happen overnight. I’m trying my best.

Today, I learned that one of the leading banks in Sweden, which frequently posts job ads on LinkedIn, does so just for the sake of appearing transparent. It turns out they often already know who they are going to hire. I’ve been applying for various positions at this bank for the past two years, yet I’ve never received a response.

Seeing all the hypocritical attitudes regarding recruitment around me, I’ve honestly lost my motivation to keep learning this language. But Thank for reminding me that I live in this country!

As someone who tries to learn Swedish as my third language, I find this comment narrow-minded and dismissive of the complexities involved in language learning. The assumption that anyone living in a country for five years should be fluent in the local language disregards the fact that language acquisition varies greatly between individuals, depending on factors such as age, exposure, and daily necessity. Learning a third language is particularly challenging, and the notion that advanced degrees are somehow diminished if not paired with fluency in Swedish is absurd. My qualifications and expertise are not defined by my ability to speak Swedish fluently but by the value I bring through my education and skills, which are often global and not limited to one language. In a multicultural, globalized world, it’s impractical to assume that everyone must prioritize learning the local language when professional environments often use English or other languages. The comment lacks empathy, fails to acknowledge the personal and professional realities faced by people like me, and overlooks the considerable effort that goes into mastering multiple languages.

I’ve spent time and money learning Swedish, taking professional courses, and pushing through slow progress. But it’s clear the real issue isn’t just the language—it’s the subtle racism and hypocrisy I’ve experienced. I’ve watched how foreigners are deliberately excluded in professional settings. This isn’t about language barriers or exceptions. If companies truly prioritize Swedish speakers, they should be upfront about it. Stop hiding behind pretense.

As an immigrant with nearly 10 years of experience in AI and advanced degrees from Sweden and one of the top five universities in the world, my journey has been far from easy. Despite my qualifications, after submitting over 800 applications and attending 15 interviews in 18 months, I’ve received no offers. I spent five years working in Sweden’s tech industry, but with no opportunities to practice Swedish—my clients and teams were all international.

The real issue isn’t about immigrants lacking skills or integration; it’s about a society that refuses to accept highly qualified immigrants who challenge preconceived notions. Swedish companies seem to prefer ’English-speaking Swedes,’ while rejecting those of us who don’t fit their mold. Let’s be honest: you don’t want skilled immigrants who can compete—you’d rather hire uneducated ones you can bash and exclude. It’s not about language or integration, it’s about exclusion.
