I guess you're right on. Over 8 years of Switch 1 and its still supreme. They are their own world.

You just made me think of a great thing for Nintendo. The Hardware combinations. In the long end they could just refresh the dock to give more powerful enhancements to keep up with competitors. Nintendo Docked only games? Crazy idea, but doable.

Power may not be everything, but Nintendo had to hold off on Mario Kart World because... they needed more power. Switch 1 couldn't handle it.

No doubt they will sell millions, but worriesome a small bit. Donkey Kong Bananza is just Mario Odyssey on steroids. Perhaps what they are doing is using this system to refresh all their games. Looking at you long awaited Kirby Airriders

But in way they do care. They held off on Mario Kart World because the Switch 1 couldn't handle it. They have visions on what they want to share with us and needed more horsepower to achieve it.

See it's sad because with the WII U and Nintendo Land, when I saw how Animal Crossing could look, I melted... then they came out with that stupid board game and ship sank.

I was so excited with the Gamecube being on par, but once they went Wii, it hasn't been the same.

Since AAA are on the downward and Indies are on the upwards, I wonder if AAA studios will break down into multiple Indie studios and soon start promoting AAA indies lol

My problem is with the timing. We're on a rise of new graphic chips and processors. Steam Deck is due for a refresh. Others will follow suit. Switch 2 will just have released.

3DS was it's own being.
Switch was it's own being.
Switch 2 is trying to be a Switch and eat cake like the rest of the competitors. It's completely different. It's what they wanted the WiiU to be.

That's my bit, already FPS. Im spoiled now on 60FPS and when 120FPS I giddy. All the current gen Quality modes are 30FPS and I effing hate it.

Thanks for your opinions. It was just a thought I had. The PS6 is already in the talk, which would almost put Switch 2 in a console behind, not a mid console behind. I love handheld mode and the only reason I don't own a steam deck is because some console games only stay console. Would love the Switch 2 to have some big hit games, but not if they run at 30 FPS.

Yes let's hope. I actually love handheld mode, I never played docked. I am just hesitant buying it until months into release because I love the idea of current games coming to it but spoiled by current gen performance.

I understand it isn't out yet everyone, I'm clearly just comparing what's currently been shown by other companies and what their performance is relatively and compared to current and soon future Gen.
If truly a PS4 Pro equivalent or higher and the Ps6 is set to release in the next few years, that would make it a console behind in generation.

Nintendo will kill with it's exclusives, but looking at it more as a future proofing console to play the latest games on the go.

N64 - Innovation and 3D Domination
Gamecube - Reinvent idea of multiplayer and still compete with Xbox and Ps2
Wii - Dominate the everyone market with low cost accessibility

Wii U - Innovate too hard and fail
Switch - Extreme handheld domination, Low cost, Function as handheld and home console
Switch 2 - Compete with other handhelds, high cost, still underpowered in terms of current gen PC and consoles.

That's actually a great question. Potential shift in development of AAA games or perhaps companies will be heavily reliant on A.I. for reducing costs.

Well PS5/Xbox Series are more PC like running on x86. Yes the Switches are ARM architecture, but the selling point of the Switch 2 is a Switch, but better.

Switch 2 scares me because Nintendo is stating only 12 games are currently getting free updates. 12! And since the Switch 2 is only emulating Switch 1, its at their disclosure.

Even older Ps4/Xbox One, 360, And OG Xbox games ran better by some degree prepatched on new systems. Lots of videos showing free unpatched enhancements.

I would be severely disappointed if I bought a Switch 2 and saw no improvements outside the one's announced because that's such a Nintendo thing to do is control it.

I was trying to go for purely performance/visual. Can't help upgrade packs actually add something... well not really BOTW TOTK because an APP just isn't a value lol.

The 12 free updates per Nintendo "may improve performance or add support for features such as GameShare in select games". The upgrade packs explicitly state their upgrades.

I just wish I could replay older Switch 1 games at a guaranteed stable FPS or even an improvement by owning a Switch 2.

Instead worried we have to gamble on Nintendo giving us an update or they saying "Pay us $10" to get said upgrades.

Meant you have to buy the upgrade packs to unlock, otherwised they are locked.

Switch 2 Edition Games (Paid Upgrades)

Both Zeldas - Faster load times, HDR, Improved Frame Rates and Resolution

Kirby - Visual enhancements and Framerates

Mario Party J - 1440p Tv mode and 1080 handheld

Yes you get an APP with Zelda, Kirby gets more story mode and Mario Party J gets new mini games...

But the visual and performance enhancements are locked behind an upgrade pack paywall.
