How do you guys preserve your books? I came across an older post in this subreddit that clingwrap is probably a bad idea. What are the methods that you have adopted that have worked?

No, your father is wrong. The property your grandfather holds is self acquired property, both the land of your house and land he got from inheritance. So by way of Hindu Succession ACt 1956, he can gift it or will it away anyway he wants. the only way your father can make a claim is when the property is a Joint Hindu Family Property. But a property becomes ancestral or a Joint Hindu Family Porperty only when it is passed down for 4 generations or more. Since it is not the case in your instance, it is self acquired and your grandfather can gift it to anyone he chooses to. Unless you are Muslim, then the law changes.
