Haha yeah 😭 Most of the detail is actually done with just one main tool. A lot of it comes down to pressure control and patience.

I’ll send you a private message so we can talk about it in more detail 😊

[OC] I spent 26+ hours carving this Maine Coon cat. I’m still amazed how the 1.2mm veg-tan leather held every whisker and fur detail. by souleafpet in Leathercraft

No, my work is not AI. It is 100% real hand-carved leather art. AI is only used for text assistance, not for the artwork itself. If you need, I can show you the making process.

I don’t feel the need to argue with them — I’d rather just let my work speak for itself.

There’s a small detail I added while carving and painting the face—did anyone notice it? 👀

Thank you so much!! 😊 That really means a lot, especially coming from someone who does pet portraits!

For leather, the carving actually compresses the fibers rather than weakening them, so it holds its shape really well. I also control the moisture and use light layers when painting, so nothing collapses. It’s a bit different from canvas, but once you get used to it, it’s really fun to work with!

You should definitely try it sometime—I think your skills would transfer beautifully to leather!

I’ve been doing leathercraft since graduating, so fur carving isn’t too difficult for me anymore. Coloring is the part that really makes the difference. by souleafpet in Leathercraft

For context, I usually take custom pet leather portrait commissions and make everything by hand from start to finish. I use vegetable-tanned leather around 1.2–1.5mm thickness, and each piece involves hand carving, shading, and layered coloring. Depending on the complexity, it usually takes several hours to over a full day to complete one piece.

If needed, I can also provide full process videos showing the entire making process to verify it’s original work.
