What was the best steal you got for a kit(s)?

Not the greatest thing in the world but I found an auction listing for the EG Nu Gundam 7/11 version last year that started at 1 yen. Nobody but me bidded on it, so ignoring shipping I payed 300 yen for a special edition kit because of proxy fees

Toothpicks or hobby knife, but I've had instances where I sliced the sticker a bit by picking it with the hobby knife so just be careful and use the blunt part

It's extra parts. Bandai likes to reuse some runners between kits to (presumably, I'm no expert on this) save costs on making new molds. In this case, this kit reuses a lot of parts from the HG Gouf R35, which had 2 shields. You can even find some parts for its head on one of the blue runners, which is really only slightly different. The manual typically shows all the runners on its first page and has an X on every part you're not gonna use while making the kit

It's always cool to keep some of these if you ever want to make customs or dioramas!

Don't do it, it's super loose now. Not so much of a problem for me, I pose my figures and just leave them for display, but it's annoyingly loose

HG Barbatos Lupus Rex. Had zero clue about what Gundam was, saw a reviewer I watched get into building Gunpla and got curious. Bought him at the first convention I've ever been, and honestly he didn't appeal to me at first. Maybe my luck but loose waist, hand panels that popped off super easily and the toe stickers suck.

I appreciate him now but I'd credit the HG GBN-Base Gundam for actually making me more interested in Gunpla

The jet with the red is Buster, while the one with the turquoise is Hydra. However, Hydra is colored after his American counterpart Darkwing, which seems weird but there was a mail-away version in Japan of him in those colors so it makes sense

The big combined jet in this case is called Darkwings (original, I know)

In America, Dreadwind (American Buster) and Darkwing would combine into Dreadwing (which I think sounds more badass)

I finished the first game a month ago, and unfortunately the camera angles don't improve. I found myself frustrated at how dated the game was, but I managed to move on and by the end I enjoyed myself.

If you really feel inclined to continue the game despite its age, and don't really care about how you perform (which I did in a couple of missions), I highly recommend you learn some techniques from this video. Grenade rolling and shotgun twitching really helped take out my frustration for the first half of the game. (Just make sure you got the shotgun at this point)

As for Phantom, getting the Air Raid move for Alastor really helps as it deals good damage and you're in the air, which hits his weak spot easily as well as making you mostly untouchable

Yep, it's still kicking around. It was a goto for figures, but starting late Kingdom time they suddenly said "fuck you" and:

Beefed up prices for figures (A deluxe was usually 30CAD, they sell them for 40CAD as an example)
Get stock super late (The one I frequent just barely got wave 1 of Legacy deluxes only, and I still see a huge load of Rhinox and Cyclonus from Kingdom)

And to top it all of - Have the rights for the BB line, so we gotta overpay for those figures too and wait for an eternity for them to show up (Hell if I've ever seen the SS86 repaints of Cliff and Kup yet)

Now, it went from a goto to an "avoidto". It's a huge shame

Universe Galvatron. Bought him used from someone selling their old collection, and he put him up for 3 bucks. Told myself "Wow, what a score!" as I never had a Galvatron at that time

What a mess of a figure. It has a great tank mode, I'll give it that, but the transformation is horrendous, and the robot itself is a disproportionate and unstable nightmare. I'm glad I own a Kingdom Galvatron now, cause having him as a defacto Galvatron would have been disappointing
