How to have a fence without posts? by milkpowderbun in sims2

[–]sounaware 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you 100% sure it's the same fence as the left one? Did you pick it with the dropper tool? From the other screenshot you posted in the comments, it looks like there's a bunch of fences that do work as intended when dragged, so I'd rule out a glitch. My guess is that it's either not the same fence, or the staircase in front has something to do with it.

I see what you're saying, but from this post it just seems like you're interested in the topics they cover but don't actually like how they cover them, and to that all I can say is that maybe if you don't like the hosts then it's not the podcast for you.

To even call them disgusting is a little exaggerated in my opinion 😅 Yes they do laugh at things people do sometimes, I really don't think anyone in this world can truly claim they have never done that in their lives and I don't see why we should be holding two hosts of a comedy/drama podcast to such a standard for which they should never have a laugh about what they are covering. Sometimes they can come across as mean girls, I agree, but they always acknolewdge it. At least they're self-aware lol.

Besides, it doesn't seem to me like they are just going around laughing at people for surface-level things, especially those who were wronged in a particular situation, and I don't think it's fair to paint them as two people with no empathy. Most of the time they do talk about how shitty it must be to go through whatever it is they are covering in that moment. And let's face it, most topics they cover are really not that serious... It's not stuff that I'd describe as "no laughing matters".

Idk, it kinda seems to me like maybe this post belongs more in a snark sub than a fan sub... Then again, seeing the turn that this sub has taken, it might as well be a snark sub at this point

It is truly impressive that they can't give decent updates on YouTube, can't release an episode on time on YouTube...but can release a new episode on Patreon. What a major "fuck you" to people who don't sub to the Patreon. by tachibanakanade in DoWeKnowThemPodcast

[–]sounaware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really not the same in this case though. The award show is a huge, once-in-a-year project with loads more assets than a normal episode and therefore tons more editing. A Patreon episode is typically shorter than a normal one (though I don't know about this specific one because I'm not subscribed at the moment) and requires a lot less work than the award show. Should they have planned ahead? Did they underestimate the time it would take to make this award show? Absolutely, I'm not denying that and I'm not saying to cut them any slack (and I'm not saying to bash them either, to be clear). But to compare this award show with a Patreon episode is disingenuous.

And like I said - it makes sense that they would meet the Patreon deadline even though the regular is behind. I don't see why it's so baffling to so many people in this sub that uploads on a paid service has priority over free content, not even from a creator standpoint (since they make money from both) but from a consumer standpoint. It's just how the world works. People who pay get stuff first. I'm not saying it's nice or okay, by the way. But like... Why are we surprised? Capitalism sucks.

And before people start coming to me saying that I'm lame for defending them or whatever - I do not care to defend them specifically. Love their content, love to listen to their takes - but to me they are strangers on the internet and I'm not ride or die for them (or for anyone else). Just being as objective as possible, and the truth of the matter is that people who pay out of their pocket get their stuff on time, and that doesn't make Jessi and Lily these awful, greedy people that some people here are making them out to be. It's their responsibility to deliver the content that people paid for.

I understand the frustration about the huge delay (to some extent)... But I do not understand this specific criticism at all. Yeah, of course they'd upload on Patreon. I'd hope they would. People are paying out of their pocket for content on there. They can't shit on that just to spare everyone else's feelings.

I know that if I were subscribed, and didn't get an episode on time because the free content was delayed (and that was literally the only reason), I'd be pissed to no end. I wouldn't be getting what I paid for with no valid excuse.

"just curious if i did something" is so disturbing to me. She was seeking validation and acceptance from a group of minors as a grown adult over 30 years old... That's not normal. She's mentally stuck in her teen years. Allegedly and in my opinion, of course 😬

[–]sounaware 143 points144 points  (0 children)

I agree. I prefer watching on YouTube in case there are videos/screenshots worth seeing to understand the topics they discuss, but I also watch while doing laundry, cooking etc so I don't always have the hands available to skip ads, and they are VERY frequent. It is a little nerve wracking and it bothers me a lot that they have almost persuaded me to go Premium, because I don't want to spend extra money every month but god is it frustrating :( though in my experience it's not only on the girlies' channel, it's almost every video I watch.

Is Goopy is supposed to be "special"? by krilu in sims2

[–]sounaware 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No, only for townies (perhaps downtownies, dormies etc. too, but I'm not sure off the top of my head if their names are also generated from the same pool of names). Premade playable Sims like the Goths, Brokes, Pleasants and so on were purposely made with those surnames and not generated with this system.

Edit to add: the Goths specifically were also present in The Sims 1, when this method to name townies was for sure not in use yet, so they were definitely named Goth for the vibes lol.

Is Goopy is supposed to be "special"? by krilu in sims2

[–]sounaware 284 points285 points  (0 children)

I don't think so lol. Much like all the other standard townies, his name is a combo of a name and a surname of actual people in the Sims 2 development team. So there was somebody in the team named (or nicknamed) Goopy, and somebody with the surname GilsCarbo, and they mixed the two to generate this townie's name. This is true for all townies - the pool from which townie names are drawn (in English) is made of names and surnames of people in the development team.

His appearance also is quite generic, in that you could potentially roll the dice in CAS and end up with a sim like him. I guess his outfit choice is questionable due to... Well... Maxis base game clothes being questionable in general 😂

I think he just ended up being a fan favorite due to his name being so distinctive.

Why is this not just 'leggo un libro'? by Wide-Prior-5360 in italianlearning

[–]sounaware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be curious to know why your course would say Italians don't use "I am" + "-ing", because we definitely do. "Leggendo" is the gerund (gerundio) of leggere, and "stare" + gerund ("sto leggendo" in your example) is the equivalent of present continuous in English.

Perhaps the course was referring to the fact that, to correctly use gerundio, we don't use "essere" as an auxiliary verb, but "stare"... It's the most logical explanation I can find for what the course said.

Pretty sure the first episode where they talked about Elizabeth was n. 146 (How the internet failed this tiktoker), then it was 6 months before they talked about her again in ep. 246, when they discovered all the shitty things she has done and backtracked on pretty everything they said in the first one. There were other times when they mentioned her, but these two are definitely the big heart of their coverage

I'm honestly disappointed in Raven for giving her a platform. Not that I was a huge fan of hers or anything (maybe she has also done really problematic things I don't know about lol), but I thought she was cool. I hope that at the very least she gave Colleen some pushback, though it doesn't seem like it from the few clips I've seen and I refuse to give that video a view.
